The nearest target is clearly a good mechanic for sure, if they want to nerf the AS ratio if it become too powerful when it will it live but still let Garen's spin damage decent without to make him busted it will be the safest way to do it.

: whats up with the garen PBE changes today?
Also the bug where if you E during the Q animation you cancel it completely is still there and should be patch as soon as possible otherwise Garen will be unplayable.

I feel the same about that I can't feel the budget from the vilain be somewhere in these change, I really want a decent damage buff on E otherwise Garen will still be trash in early game.

I want to say BOTRK is the issue but that mean you take something like 260 bonus damage every AA (Q included) how many HP do you have and what champion did you use that seem weird I don't think Garen can be the reason behind that but I can be wrong.
: Garen Changes too strong?
From what I test (+10 game with Garen) Like you said the current build don't work we are forced to build AS/Onhit and that not the goal from what Riot said to us because without the AS to gain 2-3 spin during the game (so 1-2 AS item + lvl 18) you did less than the live Garen (who already did nothing). Also his early is still not buff except for level 1-3 because we got 8 ticks at the start (which is a good point btw). Honestly I just think up the base damage/AD Ratio can be enough to make spin decent again. Even if I like the onhit to be able to use Frozen Mallet, Life steal, make Titatic usefull with Garen, finally be able to use conqueror etc, Rageblade and BloodRazor make the on hit totally broken and I don't want my champ get pick/ban in the future. So I'm ready to trade the on hit effect and the AS ratio (let at 8 ticks or maybe change the way it scale like with point in the ability) for more damage on spin early game.

Spear of Shojin MUST BE melee only or adc will abuse it like they do with sterak in the juggernaut rework.
