: We actually made a bunch of changes directly based on feedback and outlined them in the announce post: * Teammate ult timers * Teammate summoner spell timers * Teammate mana bars have returned * Persistence - if you open champion stats or latency display during a game, it’ll persist between matches. * Level up ceremony - we added a bunch of animations and sounds to make sure you know when you ding. * Spellbar clarity - made some pretty hefty changes to the shape, color, and animation of cooldown, loss of control and out of mana to improve readability. * Minimap changes - game time feels like it belongs near the minimap because timing is usually related to map objectives, but ultimately playtests and feedback have shown it's a more natural fit in the top corner. * Visual style - we’re all for minimal, but we may have overshot it. We’ve since tried to squeeze in more magic through texture work and animation. * Accessibility - added camera lock and options buttons back in. If all you wanted was an off switch, then you're probably going to be disappointed, but we did act on a bunch of feedback and suggestions and will continue to post-launch.

I am talking about the meat of it, nit tiny minuscule things that should be common sense. Almost nothing visually has changed on a macro level except the timer placement. "Visual style - we’re all for minimal, but we may have overshot it. We’ve since tried to squeeze in more magic through texture work and animation." ...... you guys just redid the map by moving the time and ping, now the entire map colors and definition are totally muted. Its the same thing with everything you guys put out for the last year or 2. all the colors are dull and bland and there is no definition. At some point you would think you would do it right the first time. when the new rift came out, you guys had to redo the definition and shading 3 times I think it was. almost every new skin has to be "re-balanced" for textures and shading, same thing with the new map. There has been no real change in the new HUD other than nit picky things, half of which you guys probably already had planned before putting it on PBE.

: "Hud feedback" EVERYWHERE
you are forgetting how hard it can be to track down a single post when there may be 50+ pages if someone posted in the same thread.
: New HUD rework [mockup]
working on a new edition, will post it later tonight or tomorrow, its a good bit different. Honestly don't think they are going to make any drastic changes to the HUD on PBE currently before release.
: Improve the "Sated Devourer" passive tooltip - a lot of players doesn't understand how it works
You are right, it is super confusing and lengthy. I don't jungle that often though, so I haven't looked much into it.
: >All champion information is grouped together at its own location for faster and quicker mental and visual acquisition. I'm totally with you on this one! Your version of the champion information is cleaner, more readable and more intuitive than Riot's Version where all that information is scattered across the UI, which makes it difficult to find what you are looking for with a quick glimpse. The location of the game timer also makes more sense intuitively in your version. It's quick to read above the champ information instead of in a corner sandwiched between the mini map and other numerical information. >The map space is maximized. Hell yeah, and much cleaner! I love it how you got rid of that wasted space that saturated the mini map UI in 3 different segments. The champion portraits matching the broadness of the mini map make it easier on the eye, but they might be too big in my opinion. Imagine the enemy team death timer portraits above your own team, it would take in too much space. As for the combat information (spells, hp/mana, items) I really like your design on the 7th picture. I would place the trinket all the way to the right though, instead of in the middle of the items section (that's kind of weird). I hope Riot will see and discuss this. Especially the champ information and mini map parts because TaterGamer just showed that there is a lot they can improve on in this UI.
Thanks man. I mean, the map is like that on live, so I'm not sure why the decided to sandwich the time and ping bars in there. If the items are all in a row, or even if they aren't you could then move the trinket around as well instead of it always being bound to the 4 key, without redoing keybinds that is. Like I said in one of the replies though, having everything together wouldn't allow the items to be re-positioned if someone wanted, but you cant really do that now except for the side of the screen, and you could always just break each section up. You could always put the champ portraits of one team along one edge of the map, and the other along the other edge I suppose. Your team down the side and enemy along the top, for instance. I don't think it would be a bad idea to put them along the top of the screen on each side either, but they are looking to keep all the information centralized. Thanks for the reply though.
: Gentleman Gnar- Can he have some tweaks to his in-game looks?
LOL, didn't even realize he had a cloudy/wonky eye on the right side eye. Carl from Workaholics anyone?
: Can the new HUD shop have some more tweaks?
The main problem I have with the new part of the shop is that everything is super spaced out and there is toooo much free space. Compress everything down and get rid of unneeded negative space and it should be fine to me. That, and the fact that the new one won't go very small in total size. For instance, on live, I make the shop window smaller and have everything I need ready to go in one small spot so I can move in and out of the fountain with the window open for getting out of the base fast and seeing hp/mana values. With the new one, it will only go down to so small of a size and it barely leaves any space to click around.
: Walk me through your changes. I'm interested in why you made the choices you did.
I edited the post with a different version. Food for thought. Enjoy!
: I disagree that the HUD looks horrible ,but the ability to move stuff around would be decent.
I don't think it is horrible, but some stuff really does need to be tweaked. Anytime you change something people have muscle memorized, there is going to be complaints until they get used to it. Being able to relocate things would make it a much more personal experience and given that pretty much every MMO, and most recent games allow you move things around, its a pretty strong argument for being able to move elements. Just watch several people play an MMO that knows the game, they almost all have things in different spots). I honestly thought that is why the items were off to the side in a separate box, but you can't move them yet so who knows. Other than being able to move, i really don't know why the items are in their own little awkward box and the rest of the center element is forced off center.
: Walk me through your changes. I'm interested in why you made the choices you did.
http://i.imgur.com/geRxfDq.png This should be enough to explain it. Being a recent MIS graduate with a minor in graphic design, I try and make common sense and user understanding a central focus in designing anything. I tried to create a graphic you can show team members and leaders as well as designers so they can understand. It is simple, but I think it works pretty well. The map space is maximized, all "combat" information (spells, hp/mana, items) are centrally located, and all champion information is grouped together at its own location for faster and quicker mental and visual acquisition. There is roughly a 50% decrease in space taken up in the middle of the screen. The game time has its own nice spot because it is one of the most important pieces of information for strategy. Gold values aren't used in combat, so why put it with the combat information. This is true for the "base" button as well. Hope that helps.
: Walk me through your changes. I'm interested in why you made the choices you did.
Give me a few, ill work on it while watching LCS.
: New hud idea
Its a good idea, but I'm not sure if they would do it. Maybe though. The reason they wouldn't do it is because it takes away from knowing your skill's mana costs and how much mana you have currently. This is a competitive game and I know tons of people that already think the dragon/baron/buff timers take away from having to know the times and the communicating with your team part of the game, much less the new cool down timers. It is the WoW effect, as I like to call it. Everything it dumbed down to the point where knowing specific parts of the game mean nothing and only mechanics. Make the game super brainless and people won't want to play it because the total skill level of knowing things about the game drops. That said, I think this may be a good feature in normals or team builder or something for getting timing down right, but not in ranked queues. Same thing with the auto timers for jungle they just put in this week.

I don't think, I glanced through the files and it looks like the UI and such may download on a per game basis with only settings in the files. That or you need a specific program to see the file types. I have visual studio and all that stuff on my computer and most of the file folders are empty. It was a very quick glance though, so I am sure I missed something somewhere. I did find the file that scales the UI elements independently though, and I know how to change the Latin American server language to English by force, so. There has to be some sort of UI images in the folders though, because otherwise leaguecraft skins wouldn't be able to be used. I just haven't found the files yet.
: I like your concept. I'd like to give some ispration i had earlier when i saw the new HUD, but I have to say I'm way to bad in PS too visualize it. So the first thing I had in mind what thell hel do ei nee this Icon from my champion, I chose it so it doesn't have to tell me what I'm playing. So maybe remove this, place a colored XP-Bar somewhere alonge the center interface. I think right now it draws to much attention sometimes this big useless picture. Your own champion lvl. is already indecated above your champions head you don't need this twice eighter. The Timer was in a actual good spot right under the CS Score so you see, "Oh I have to work on my Farm/ I'm quite good right now with my farm." I'd like to see the Allied Champions on the left-side of the minimap in oder you can place them in your TAB-Menu so you may be able to see at a glance top ->jungle->mid->adc->support. Maybe to show who's Ult is up they get a green frame around their icon instead of a tiny dot (this Frame may load up( in a coloured way maybe) so it also can show approx when someones ult is up). On the right side where on your 5.th Version are all the icons there coud be space for timers, so for Dragon, Baron, even for Blue and Red. This way you haven't to use the Tab Menu (which block your view on the important stuff) and just view it straight while your playing. If you do so there would be an option to place the timer and CS score on this side. This way you have everything with creeps and monsters and timer on the right side and everthing with champions KDA Map(where they aktual art atm) on the left side and in the middle your Chamion relatet things XP/HP/RESOURCE-Bar, Spells and Items, money (Shop-icon). Maybe you try it and see if it looks pobably, I'd like to see how it would look like this way. But this are just some thoughts i had tell me what you think about them.

: Diamond player's opinion on the Shyvana buffs and why it won't fix her
you could always just give her like 25% tenacity while in ult/burnout. I don't really have a ton of problem ulting, maybe increase the range slightly by 50 or so. I think giving her the tenacity in ult form would really help though. People just cc you to death right after you ult, so you are basically just a meat bag chasing people. with a pot and boots, she could have like 75% tenacity in ult form, plus the defensive tree stats on top of that.

: I really like the changes to the map. I'm impartial to the item changes. If I had the ability to move them I'd be more inclined - since I don't want the trinket in the middle. I don't like how spaced apart the abilities area, though. Maybe compress the whole bar? Or, more the ranks to the side of the image?
> [{quoted}](name=3mptylord,realm=PBE,application-id=AYQh7p7O,discussion-id=srRc6jiP,comment-id=0006,timestamp=2015-06-05T22:44:45.525+0000) > > I really like the changes to the map. > > I'm impartial to the item changes. Or, more the ranks to the side of the image? The spacing is for quicker visual recognition. This is a larger version of the HUD, so reducing its size in the client would compress the spaces until the need to re-size the icons in the client. I play with a reduced sized HUD, so I took this into account by design.

: I just made a few examples. But see, that's one of the problems here: every player thinks something else is more important. Let's see it from your perspective then: if it's that important, it shouldn't be somewhere on your main HUD. It should be somewhere where you can glance and immediately find it. Instead of reacting to one of my examples, though, it would be great if you commented on the point of my post :')

For example, the game time is not essential for the game progression so it doesn't have to be in your main HUD. It is also just impractical to have those items to far away; you cannot quickly look at your item slots anymore. The death timers are important, but not so important that they need to be in the center of your screen. My point is: there is so much information that it is almost impossible to find what you need in a set area in such a short amount of time. *Less is more*.

That is probably one of the most important timers in the game for timing buff, dragons, summoner cooldowns of the other team, figuring push strategies, expecting ganks, etc. It is probably the single most glanced at thing in the game for advanced players and it absolutely essential to be in the main information.

As well as the HP bars of the minions / turrets / champs / drag / baron...... The shop as well as the settings window are both hella tiny as well. However when you hover over one of your skills for example, the text is just huge and unproportional. Hope you can address this issues because it seems like macs in general are being neglected :( I was using a MacBook pro and everything was fine, but this new iMac forces me to learn how to play this game all over again since dragging my cursor from the bottom of my screen to the top of it takes a lot of time. And if I want to play properly with my cursor being at a relatively "legit" size, I'm going to have to give up on image quality (which is stunning) and lower my resolution down to like 1980x1080 where the game looks horrible, yet it's way more playable... -Also, It's possible to adjust the HUD's size, however it does not affect the chat window size (which can be adjusted separately, however still tiny on the iMac 5k) it doesn't affect the cursor or the health bars either. Allowing players to set the HP bars and the size of their cursor would be really nice. Or if you could just adjust them appropriately on all resolutions equally, it would be even nicer. The minimap can be changed in size, but the champions' icons stay tiny and sometimes hard to notice. It also needs an adjustment there to fit the correct proportions of the minimap itself. The new HUD seems to be way better than the current live one and I'm totally supporting it. Love the idea of team mates icons etc (would be nice to know when their ult is up though :) That exp bar is great, hp/mp bars are lovely, love the main image of my champion and the transparency of my ap/ad etc. I absolutely LOVE the raindrop indicator on the skills which allows me to know whether I have enough mana to use it or not, however I do believe that even when a skill is on CD it would be nice to know whether I can use it again as soon as it comes up or not.

There is also the problem that you are on MAC as well {{item:3070}}
: New HUD Feedback
http://i.imgur.com/NUDNmDB.png more of what I was thinking.
: The main problem with items still exists x( . It's not practical to have all items in one row. Drag & Drop is much harder and mouse will have to travel several times further from slot A to slot B. For example, if I want to Drag & Drop item from 1st Slot to 6th Slot, my mouse will need to travel through 4 slots + trinket which is in my way for some reason (5 slots total). The current new hud has kept the same Drag & Drop spacing like the old one. In a comparison to your Hud, to Drag & Drop item from 1st Slot to 6th Slot with Riot's Hud, I would need to travel through ONE single slot space (dragging diagonally). It's 5 times faster. In addition, Riot's current and new Hud doesn't have empty space between items at all. Also, a small tip, when you are doing a visual representation of your changes, you should spend more time on details. Currently, it's really hard to see Health and Mana values, and it wasn't necessary to change ability icons to rectangle shape. Square and circle always shows perfection (well, they are perfect shapes :P) and a great readability. --- When I was working on my first concept of PBE client landing page for my own use, I took a few days to make it look like I wanted. After I finished it I even made it real and fully working. http://imgur.com/a/LHyqn Of course, I am not saying that you need to make it a real working thing, but putting a bit more effort and finalizing your work would help you a lot. I am still very happy for you because it's rare to see someone spending their time and making a visual represantation of their ideas! :3

I am still very happy for you because it's rare to see someone spending their time and making a visual representation of their ideas! :3 You just made 3 paragraphs detailing something that is almost irrelevant. Probably 75% or more of the feedback I have seen on here says the new HUD is too cramped, and it is. There is no negative space in the new HUD for the eye to distinguish between elements. I really don't think anyone is going to care whether or not they have to move their mouse 20 more pixels to move items. You shouldn't be moving them around in battle, so that whole argument that it takes more time is flawed. It is a nitpicky thing that nobody is going to care about because they glance at the items after. And I am pretty sure nobody clicks on items to use them either unless they are eating while playing or something. I also have no problem seeing the HP and Mana bars or reading in the numbers in my change. In fact I can see them better. Why would I make that change if I didn't think it was better? Didn't pay attention to details? Do you want to try selecting multiple things with a magnetic lasso, cleaning the edges, and cloning things to fill in spaces and make them look right? This wasn't just a clean background to work from, there was leaves, stone pieces, grass, and other stuff in the background to blend. I moved and spaced the icons in the top right corner (blue covered ones) slightly and had to go back and blend the background behind it to make it look real.
: Information Processing at a Glance and the Problems of the New HUD
I posted a mockup of a, what i think, is a bit better way to do it. Leaving room for negative space and stuff. Check it out and let me know what you think.

: More of what I am thinking for the new HUD [job at riot now?]
So more like this? I was going for more of a rectangle look on the skills to fill in the gaps, but its super hard to do when I am using copies of pixels of squares. I am sure Riot may not want to convert 5 skill emblems for every champ ion the game to fit a fatter rectangle instead of a square, but they could have it done it less than a week I assume. http://imgur.com/NUDNmDB I added the values for hp and mp, the missing mp on the bar, and changed around the skill sand items. The items are now no smaller than in the original, if they are, its by a few pixels. You can see where the skills are warped and would have to be converted to fit that format in HD. With the negative space I have in there, you can decrease the overall size without decreasing the data contained in it until a certain point. I play with my HUD on about 25% to maximize screen space, so I planned it like that. I have having screen space taken up except for the mini map, where I need to see an overview of everything.

If anyone likes some of this as a proof of concept/mockup, I have a few ideas for some of the other new HUD elements. The store, team info when hitting TAB, etc. I can also edit this if anyone has suggestions.
