: Holy smokes! Thank you for the report! Guess who's staying late tonight!?
As long as you're fixing that, I don't know if Viktor's death ray is coded as a minion or something, but it blocks test of spirit
: With new catalyst, Ryze will be just so much more OP, never running out of mana in exchanges. Plus, he'll be healing much more in those exchanges when combined with his ult and catalyst healing. Basically, he only needs 10 additional CDR and he'll get those from either new abyssal or spirit visage. Frozen heart hasn't been used on him in a while. He can just go some other tanky armor item, like dead man's plate (speed is really good on him). Basically, since he's mostly played on mid, you just go Roa/GLP, Abyssal, merc boots, void staff, archangel and banshee/GA/QSS. It's 40-45% CDR and there's no stats wasted. Frozen heart was hugely exchanged by iceborn and is rarely ever even built on anyone. Problem here is that there's not much room for experimenting, which was the problem before he even got his 30% CDR. It's one-dimensional, but I feel like he's really strong in lane with new Eternity passive from catalyst.
: I concur in the lunacy of it. 30% CDR sounds great on {{champion:13}} for his passive tied to his ultimate until you realize a lot of things you build already have CDR on them. {{item:3110}} is 20% and now {{item:3001}} and {{item:3157}} offer 10% each. Now you may not consider that much, but all three of those items are his recommended defensive build options. He is already losing the value of CDR for building just a {{item:3110}} as his only CDR item for a match . One could suggest you raise his CDR cap yet that is honestly a bad idea as he already has a "machine-gun" playstyle when he starts going. So we need to look forward to his rework as his passive on his ultimate doesn't jive well with the item changes.
If I recall correctly, the original reason that Ryze was given the 30% CDR for free was because, prior to this change, Ryze got enough CDR from his Q, that a standard Ryze would grab RoA, Archangel's and Frozen heart (followed by abyssal if he had the money) pretty much every game no matter what he was playing against or what the situation of his game was and Riot wanted his build to be a little more variable, so they loaded him up with free CDR so Frozen Heart wouldn't be absolutely necessary core on him. However, now that the new Morellonomicon is a heavy mana item, I'm not sure that frozen heart would be core on him ANYWAY, but he still needs defensive items AND mana, so... ryze is GOING to get either morellonomicon or frozen heart (or both, wasting anywhere from 10%-30% CDR) then he's probably getting an abyssal and, if he didn't get a frozen heart, he's probably getting a Zhonya's and MAYBE he's getting a belt instead of an RoA given that RoA doesn't have the same stat benefit that it used to. That build would be overkill CDR on ANY mage, but considering that those CDR items are so much more attractive on Ryze than other mages who are more attracted to needlessly large rod upgrades, it makes his existing 30% CDR more conspicuous, and it feels bad
Rioter Comments
: First, it doesn't "completely" invalidate Soraka. Second, a change that could go through is that external healing is reduced by a lower percentage than self healing, 25% maybe. But completely removing the possibility of reducing Soraka's healing impact is not the way to go.
Being 50% less useful against soraka would probably be acceptably balanced, but it would be fairly weak and might just end up as a trap in that case
: So basically you are saying that itemazation is not counterplay. It's like saying "Don't focus the frontline and dive the backline" IS counterplay. "Buy an item that counters armor/magic resistance and kill them" is not. Itemazation IS counterplay.
A single item that COMPLETELY invalidates anything a certain champion can do is not good design, and if they were going to make it work that way, they would have have to make her ridiculously powerful when you DON'T buy it to counteract how useless she would be if you do
: Hmmm, no wait I get it, early game rush them while the potions are active for early kills right? I can see that being a good investment if you can make the risk worth it. Good point.
Consider the following: Over the course of all 3 charges, the potion will restore 450 HP and 150 mana. That's almost 3 Ruby crystals and a sapphire crystal worth of stats ALONE before the DoT is even considered. No other item is going to give anywhere near that level of stat efficiency. It puts other items behind, but if it wins you a few trades that result in your enemy backing when they otherwise wouldn't have to, or you NOT backing when you organise should have had to, or denying them a kill, OR getting you a kill... Then it was an investment that paid for itself

: Tank Junglers.
With proper runes, masteries and items, I'm not even sure how this is possible. Please provide additional information: - Champion used - Runes used - Masteries used (the following tool is useful to show your build: http://pyroblasty.github.io/masteries/ ) - Starting items (talisman or machete? 3 red potions or a refillable?) - Jungle Route including camps smote - Leash?
: I did mention that they are refillable and saying that the you would need to bad three times after buying it to equal the same as 10 health pots, but I think I went kinda retard there(Or they recently changed it) but the health regen is now 150 on atleast one of the potions. Just wish there was a reverse potion for mana and less health. But that support thing, I didn't think about that to be honest, could have used that as aniv support earlier now that I think about it, would actually make her autos hurt. Anyway thanks for talking and putting in your imput. I think my biggest problem is with the prices, they are just a little high and slow down your other purchases.(atleast it feels this way)
They provide a LOT of early game power, so their cost is intentional. You can rush a full corrupting potion level 1 for example, and that can be seriously impactful
: New Griveous Wounds and Soraka
"Focus Soraka before she can heal her entire team" IS counterplay. "Buy an item that counters healing and ignore her for the remainder of the game" is not
: New potions feel like they slow you down and quickly become redundant
Refillable potions also restock every time you go back to base, making them more like a permanent increase to HP/mana. That passive damage also really matters early game, and I've seen a lot of harass heavy supports grabbing it

: Is PBE servers are different than the official ones?
Pbe servers are still in LA and can't handle as much traffic to my knowledge
: It depends. If you have the wave pushed up its pretty easy to back off and kill krugs, raptors, or gromp and not miss out on much exp. There's also a major concern of carries farming the jungle later in the game after they back on their way back out to a pushed out lane. Maybe I've just had bad teammates but people farm my jungle all the time in season 5 and I anticipate it's only going to get worse in season 6. If I pick up a wave of cs while a carry isn't there though I get spam pinged to back off and flamed for "stealing" cs. You can't have it both ways and still expect the jungler to be useful, I need to get gold and experience somehow.
No more or less than currently I'd assume. The counterbalanced gold and experience is a pretty agnostic change
: I'm guessing you'd go 0/18/12 then because trying to clear without the 5 damage every hit is painful, so you need at least the 5 in the middle tree. Surprisingly enough though, Evelynn is not as squishy as people think she is. She's got a base armor of 26.5 compared to Zix's 21, though she's got 531 base health to his 570ish. Her damage reduction is much better surprisingly enough and her clear speeds and issues stem from Riot's non-stop nerfing of her level 1 damage because they hate when she can gank well after Gromp, Krugs, or a buff. Evelynn also does really well with just getting the machete with how her E procs the lifesteal, gives AS, and does a double proc of the 20 damage from Machete.
Yeah. Going at least 12 in cunning send pretty standard for all junglers I've tried. Between Thunderlord's Decree and Stormraider's Surge, assassin junglers shouldn't mind going a full 18 in it either
: [Preseason] Itemization Feedback Megathread (November 10th PBE Build)
Don't necessarily agree with every comment, but all around this is pretty good, and very well thought out. +1
: Really? What makes you say that?
Smite bonuses for krugs and/or Red are way better for safety
: Yeah I saw they increased theexp but I haven't seen anything about jungle camps providing more gold. Do you have any links to the changes? If this is true why wouldn't laners poach jungle camps more often since they are worth more gold?
You lose out on exp this way as a laner though, which, depending on when it is in the game, could be way more important
: Well, a normal jungler would go Krugs/Gromp, Red/Blue, then Blue/red, B at level 3, pick up 2nd jungle item, then go back to killing the jungle. Assassin would be doing that at Wolves or Wraiths, which also means that they'd be susceptible to having their buffs stolen simply because they -can't- take their buffs. It's one thing to encourage counter jungling against champs with poor clearing, but it shouldn't be 'Counter jungle me because Rito made the camps hit too hard for me'. We had preseason in most seasons screwed because of that where only J4, Vi, Lee, WW, and Fiddle could clear both buffs in a timely manner without having to worry about their buffs being stolen because they had to take a camp over their buff.
If you go 12 in the defensive masteries though, you can easily go Krugs > Razorbeaks > Red > Scuttler > nearly Full HP gank while the enemy is still level 2. Regardless though, the point was the potion. And I think if you have the right masteries, is easy enough to start refillable. I main EVELYNN, and if I can safely jungle with a refillable level 1, any jungler can
: To be fair, ap mids got attention last year when they reworked ap itemization. Mages have been in a fairly healthy state for a while now.
Right, but preseason I'd changing the entire atmosphere of the game, and even sp items don't get changed along with it, it feels off
: Hmmm..... honestly, I'd say there's one thing I could've done better. I actually didn't smite Gromp right off the bat; I used it to execute. Had I started with Smite, the DoT- however minor for a low-health champ like Kha- would have made clearing Gromp a bit easier, giving me a smidge more health for the following camps. Given I could afford to make a flub like that, yeah I'd say it's good enough for consistent use. Of course it could depend on your leash I suppose; I had botlane Leona/Lucian leashing me.
You can all also afford to be a little more risky with a red side start
: That's if you can start with a refillable. Some assassins can't take both buffs right now without having 3 WHOLE pots and the refillable doesn't exactly give that.
: I actually just had what I consider an AMAZING Kha'Zix match, using only slightly altered Masteries (Feast instead of Double-Edged Sword, and Decree over Surge). What I had to do was take 3 red potions instead of the refillable (red lasts 15, refillable lasts 10) and start Gromp. I was still a little on the low side after finishing my clear, but I managed to complete it with... the safety expected of an assassin, to be honest. But it was safe-ish. I finished the match 14/6/6 with Legendary status. EDIT: And I just realized that despite my lackluster clears and personal KDA, I've won all but one of my Kha games during the Preseason testing.
Safe enough to be CONDISTENTLY safe though? Not just got lucky this game?
: Jungle items don't grant bonus gold in S6
The jungle items increase your EXP now Base exp and gold values for jungle camps have been adjusted accordingly. I think the goal might have been to make bot lane krug/gromp poaching level 1 and even duo jungling less attractive

But those builds are terrible. That's probably why you don't like the item, because you don't optimize builds very well. > > Even last season, when iceborne wasn't as good as this season, iceborne or triforce was always the correct decision on nasus even jungle nasus who should be getting a Cinderhulk. I consider build optimization to be my greatest strength tbh. Nasus is a very strong duelist with Runeglaive. The problem of AD-tank Nssus is that his E is weak. The Problem of AP-tank Nasus is that his Q is weak. Runeglaive is good for Q and E, so it is somewhat the ideal Nasus item. I only started jungling with Nasus because of Runeglaive. > Likewise, jungle Malphite is CONSTANTLY bring hit by jungle monsters and is CONSTANTLY in melee range (for Cinderhulk's passive). Malphite needs CDR and damage at some point imo. I don't think Runeglaive is ideal, but Cinderhulk doesn't make sense for me because it delays his CDR and damage items too much. But maybe I underestimate Full Tank Malphite, I don't play it. > And if you're going AP Evelynn.... You don't build that way. You build a Runeglaive and a Rylai's as your core almost 100% of games and then either go AP or tank from there depending on how the game goes. Nashor's tooth is a complete waste of money on her because her Q practically works as an auto attack replacer, so you really don't need to give her magic damage on hit at such an expensive price... Currently I buy Runeglaive, Ionian boots, Deathcap, Rylais and 2 more AP items on Evelynn. Rylais is great, but Rabadons just takes her damage to a whole new level so it has priority. But even more important than AP is CDR, because CDR works for Eves Q like Attack speed for an Adc, and 40% CDR increases her Q-DPS as much as 110% AS increases Caitlyns AA-DPS at Level 18. Currently I use 15% CDR from runes and masteries, 10% from Runeglaive and 15% from boots. But next season Ionian boots give only 10% CDR and CDR cap is increased to 45%. This means I need 10% additional CDR. That is the first reason for Nashors Tooth. But the on hit effect from Nashors tooth is good for Evelynn too, because E procs on-hit effects twice and gives 120% Attack speed. E has a 180% AP ratio with Lich bane and Nashors Tooth. Because of this and Q's AP ratio I will prefer Rabadons over Rylais again. The slow and the health are nice, but with Nashors+Lich+Rabadons Eve has higher one-shot potential, and the DPS is insane too. > I mean, I'm not disinclined to say that Runeglaive might be too expensive now, but that's not the same thing as what you are saying, that is better to go stalker's blade + lich bane on Evelynn... Which is just wrong Talisman+Machete+Fienish Codex+Sheen. This costs only 2550, gives 10% more CDR than Runeglaive, 15 less AP on the other hand, but has much better upgrades later. If Runeglaive isn't even a powerspike, what I calculated in my first post, but denies a later powerspike, it is just too weak. I don't buy Stalkers on Evelynn, I buy Trailblazer on every champion. Eve has enough damage and a long range slow, and it sucks to don't have smite for an objective after smiting a champion. Without Trailblazer jungling will be harder, but stalkers is still not appealing for me.

But other people probably wouldn't. Those builds aren't that good. For what it's worth, I'm not trying to be mean, and you're even correct that you don't necessarily NEED to finish your jungle item. But if you're an AP jungler and you are going to go with a sheen upgrade.... You really need to go Runeglaive, if for nothing more than slot efficiency
: I'm surprised they didn't do that to start off with, or 2% crit = 1% CDR. Trinity is 10% already, ER is 10%, passive + Trinity crit gives another 10%... Toss in boots and that's 40%, 45% if you took the mastery. It's just an immense amount of burst for a Caster ADC.
: I see, I see. My masteries are like this: [Since Kha'Zix is an assassin, I focused on offense](http://pyroblasty.github.io/masteries/#K0CvyK0CvClKY). That might be where my problem lies.
I understand that and that was my initial thought on Evelynn too, but after having so much trouble, I came to the conclusion that your extra damage is meaningless when you get set so far behind buying items because your clear is so unsafe and bad. Similarly, all the extra damage doesn't matter if your HP is always too low to gank. I WISH I could opt into the damage tree, but it's just sacrificing way too much. At least the combination of the regen masteries, talisman and Hunter's Potion really DOES keep your resources pretty well topped off, so the investment feels worthwhile
: On his E is stated, that attacks against any enemy below 15% health give 100% **Crit Chance** to his basic attacks and his Q. So the Q does indeed crit and not just critlike damage.
It's not the same though because it's a conditional ability "crit" that doesn't scale with crit chance. Death's dance should give him enough sleep vamp if he wants it though
: Rageblade and Devourer -- Master Yi, Jax, and Ranged Characters
Rageblade Yi, though, honestly isn't much scarier than a pure AD yi since both do crazy damage without much bulk. Haven't really played against a jax yet, but I can see how that would be terrifying
: Kha'Zix Consensus
I go Evelynn who has similar HP problems in early clears. Might I recommend my mastery page: http://pyroblasty.github.io/masteries/#YK0CvCvKCvCvy (Though I might go for Stormraider's Surge over Thunderlord's Decree on Kha) and go for a talisman over a machete. Try it out and let me know how it goes
: Pantheon's Q Crits with Warlord's Bloodlust
It's because it doesn't really "crit". It just does crit-like bonus damage just like hitting with the center of a soraka starcall, or hitting an isolated target with Karthus skittles

They CAN go for more AP heavy builds, but going tank is usually way better for both of them, and nasus does considerably better as an AD tank than an AP tank. Nasus should buy a sheen item. Runeglaive was the cheapest sheen item and had the jungling passives, so it was the best for Jungle Nasus. And the AP was good for his E and R too. I used to buy Runeglaive + Liandries and 3 tank items. Now I will still buy Sheen on Jungle Nasus (if i still play it), but I will buy a Gauntlet, Triforce or Lich bane later instead of Runeglaive. I will either buy no completed jungle item or Cinderhulk very late in the game. I think an AP build is good for jungle Malphite, because he doesn't need as much armor to survive a lane. In a lane I prefer a armor - magic penetration - cdr build. > So really all that leaves is Evelynn. > > You are correct that AP eve is going to do more damage with a lich bane.... But AP eve does not want to waste money on a warrior enchant since that does nothing for her lich bane... I think Warrior into Full AP will do around the same damage as Runeglaive into Full AP. But I will rather buy no completed jungle item at all. I need the machete and the talisman, but afterwards I will go for Nashors Tooth, Lich bane and Rabadons. Warrior into AD+crit+tank will maybe be good too, since crit-itemization is buffed heavily, but i'm not sure yet, it is not that good for one-shotting. First clear is super hard for Eve though (Begin of Season 5 was super easy in comparison), maybe it is better to play her in mid or top lane now. > Also runeglaive is generally jungle Evelyn's only mana item unless she grabs a frozen heart, so the mana restoration portion of it is really really useful on her. Yes her passive is helpful, but in an extended battle she chews through mana, so keeping it higher at all times is very helpful. I think the +250 Mana is more useful than the Mana restoration on Sheen against Jungle monsters, because Eves passives mana regeneration scales with Mana. I play Full AP Evelynn, so battles are not that extended, I kill, get killed or disengage. In the late game Mana is no problem.
Sorry.... But those builds are terrible. That's probably why you don't like the item, because you don't optimize builds very well. Even last season, when iceborne wasn't as good as this season, iceborne or triforce was always the correct decision on nasus even jungle nasus who should be getting a Cinderhulk. Likewise, jungle Malphite is CONSTANTLY bring hit by jungle monsters and is CONSTANTLY in melee range (for Cinderhulk's passive). These were ALWAYS the better builds for them. Especially since if you are building pure AP otherwise she's not actually going to stick around long enough to make use of more than a few AAs. I mean, I'm not disinclined to say that Runeglaive might be too expensive now, but that's not the same thing as what you are saying, that is better to go stalker's blade + lich bane on Evelynn... Which is just wrong
: Yeah, but it cuts into your damage and most assassin junglers need as much damage as they can get as fast as they can get it.
Assassins do need damage, but 250 gold doesn't really seriously put anyone's build behind
: I think what he means is that the Level 9 Trinkets should replace the Level 1 Trinkets when you hit Level 9
And my point is that sometimes you WANT the level 1 trinkets
: Why do people bother pushing?
Some people wanted to test one thing, and then they are done testing it so they just want to end the game. I ran so many quick jungle eve games, for example, trying to find the right masteries, runes and items for her

: Why is Amplifying Tome still 435?
It does kind of further the narrative that ap mids got ignored this preseason, especially given the MASSIVE discrepancy between Executioner's Calling and Morellonomicon
: I usually see it more on mana hungry junglers than health lacking ones.
Even if they aren't HP heavy, the hp adds up. Assassin junglers at constant full HP is scary
: I just hate that he indirectly got quite a massive buff because of some item/mastery changes. He was already oppressing against a lot of matchups as is, now he's just a bit ridiculous.

Evelynns clear is already very nice in the mid game, Lich bane will be more useful, because it is stronger against champions, Warrior will be better than Runeglaive on her too. Nasus has no problems with clearing at this point. Runeglaive even makes my loosing one stack at wraith camp. Malphite has the most and longest clearing problems of these three, but I don't think that I will buy this bad version of Runeglaive on him. Iceborn gauntlet, Nashors tooth or Morellonomicon will be better I think, but I have to test it.
See here's the thing with that: Neither Malphite nor nasus should be going runeglaive ANYWAY. They CAN go for more AP heavy builds, but going tank is usually way better for both of them, and nasus does considerably better as an AD tank than an AP tank. So really all that leaves is Evelynn. You are correct that AP eve is going to do more damage with a lich bane.... But AP eve does not want to waste money on a warrior enchant since that does nothing for her lich bane... Also runeglaive is generally jungle Evelyn's only mana item unless she grabs a frozen heart, so the mana restoration portion of it is really really useful on her. Yes her passive is helpful, but in an extended battle she chews through mana, so keeping it higher at all times is very helpful. Furthermore the slot efficiency of a runeglaive is just the icing on the cake and the main reason I'd never take lich bane over it since you kind of need a jungle item and something not AP+lich bane isn't going to be as good as something AP +Runeglaive

it's not so much that you CAN'T clear before it, but it really really helps clear super quickly so you can get right back to ganking after a fast clear

And, if memory serves, the frozen zone from iceborne is larger the more armour you have now.
