: So are there any actual rewards tied to mastery 6 and 7 besides bragging rights? Better emote? Icon? Something I've wanted for a long time are mastery-specific chromas, but I recognize that's a lot to ask for. Any chance that might ever be a thing?
There are new emotes / badges, yes. It's unlikely 7 will be the highest levels, with levels after this it's possible we'll explore other rewards.
: I think I [totally understand](https://youtu.be/E_RillKRggo?t=13s) how this works now
Yeaa... it sounds a bit confusing when it's written out. It's actually pretty straight forward when you play with it, a bit like the loot system itself. Let us know what you think though when it hits PBE.
: What I like. 1. Rank 6-7 mastery is being put into the game. 2. Getting rank S- and S to unlock rank 6-7 What I don't like. 1. Having 1100 blue essence a requirement I have played an absolute ton of games since hextech crafting has been released and I only have 1 champion shard and 293 blue essence. This is mostly because I play the same champions and already have gotten my chest for the season on them. I think "The mystery coin" will solve this at least for me since I own every champion already and have nothing to spend my IP on. I think over all this system is pretty alright and even though its a bit of a forced tie in to hextech crafting the "mystery coin" sounds reasonable as long as its not like 12000 IP cost.
Cool, thanks for this feedback. The prices will be tuned to be reasonable. Let us know what you think when it goes out.
: So we are making champion mastery a matter of luck instead of skill or perseverance. I'm sure people will love that. Take away the players' agency and replace it with a lottery. Quality stuff.
Luck just makes it a bit easier. You can unlock them without luck, per the post above.
: I like the idea of making champion shards more useful. Any ideas of giving rewards upon reaching mastery 7 such as champion icon? That'd be really cool to see!
We think there's still a lot of rooms for cooler reward options. Can't really talk about this yet, it's highly unlikely 6 and 7 will be the level peak.
: Uhm. I'm sorry, what? In what way this is suppose to be tied up with champ mastery in any way? This is stupid, and i don't get this. So you are basucally insisting to use the craft system? Can I just play the game without stupid tokens and stuff and just get my emote? What about people with 500k mastery points on Rengars? They need to _get an s- blehh_. For real, Riot? Come on, you guys, this is dumb, just let it work the way it does now. The more you play the cooler the emote. I don't even care about chromas and stuff. Just give us the emotes without hextech crafting involvement.
Grinding out more games on a champion doesn't really represent a compelling objective past a certain point. This is why we're branching the objectives to having a heavier skill requirement.
: So how hard have you consired to unlock the mastery levels 6 and 7? Do you have an estimated time? Having the S on a Champ is not difficult at all but that crafting :x Im wondering because on live i've open about 20 chests, but havent recieved yet a Championship shard or blue essence. So by my stats on live it looks like unlcoking those mastaries will be hard. Thanks in advance, and sorry english is not my first lenguage
You can get champ shards for IP now, so the barriers to getting blue dust are significantly lower. Most champ shards grant ~200 essence, so it'll really depend how skilled you are with the champs.
: I don't agree with this at all. My mastery shouldn't be tied to Hextech Crafting in any way, not when it involves RNG. I'm glad you're wanting to add these coins to give us shards so we can actually _have_ essence but it's still a bit much. These coins better not be expensive because if they are there's going to be a problem. My mastery should not be IP/RP/RNG-based. I shouldn't have to buy my mastery.
The RNG component is a bonus, you can unlock the levels without relying on RNG through dust.
: It doesn't seem right to me that the difference between rank 5 and 7 are only 5 good games, why not adding a specific amount of mastery points as a requirement for 6 and 7? It would be showing that the player has a lot of experience and when you see someone with Lvl 7 you know he really "mastered" his champion Just for Example: Level 6: 50k Mastery Points 5 Mastery Tokens Some Blue Essence Level 7: 100k Mastery Points 15 Mastery Tokens A bit more blue essence But I gotta say that I like the way for using blue essence :D
Mastery points are pretty heavily weighted by participation atm. We want to branch higher levels to have more of a performance requirement so the levels are more significant.
: What's the point of having additional levels of champions mastery if all we get is a slightly different Emote spam and another border in the loading screen? We get absolutely nothing out of it outside of bragging rights and now you're asking us to spend actual resources (Essence) to level up rather than just spamming games with a particular champion. You claim that the champion mastery system is supposed to 'reward us', but we're getting almost nothing out of it.
Champion mastery offers a few reward paths, for example loot is granted from champion mastery achievement. Levels are a bit different. Levels 1-5 are about skill + participation, with more of the weight being on participation. Level 6+ are going to have more of a skill component, starting with this. For 6 and 7 we're sticking with the original reward scheme but other options are still on the table for future levels.

: Does this mean I have to redo my efforts of getting Maokai to level 3? Please tell me I don't have to.

: The Champion Mastery Point Calculation may be messed up
Wins are worth about 3 times as much as losses. This would explain what you're seeing.

: I have one main question. The mastery itself is too show off individual skill and mastery of a champion more so than a teams performance but I've noticed that no matter how high a grade you get, meaning you have performed exceedingly well, if you lose you only get 1/4 than points you would get if you win. I got a B and won, and got 600 points, while in another game i lost but got an A+, but only got 150 points. This seems to mean that no matter how well you personally do with a champion, it is still dependent on your team as to how quickly you rank up, when the mastery itself is a personal achievement. This seems odd to me and I would like feedback as too why this is the case because its kind of disappointing to play very well, yet are not able to carry the game, and only get a fraction of the points you would get for playing poorly but getting carried.
CP is determined using a combo of personal score, teammate scores, win or loss, game length and a few other factors. We weighted scores in this way for a few reasons. We didn't want to put too much pressure on players to perform individually really well at the cost of teamwork. Also we want wins to be more valuable than losses so it's not possible to faceroll a champion to max level easily. That said I can see how not getting as many points for a loss could feel a little bad. Ultimately it's a trade we have to make to align incentives properly in the system but it's something we'll keep an eye on.
: I'm quite excited to showcase my Akali (only) mastery. Hence, I'd like to learn more about how earning points beyond the maximum tier affects the display. http://puu.sh/gxThf/e93193def5.jpg Looking at your profile (see above image), the point count is displayed on the golden frame of the champion portrait once the maximum tier has been reached. Indeed, it looks pretty cool. However, I feel like the font could be a bit larger / more prominent. Not by much, just a little. Beyond, will the badge in the loading screen be affected as well, i.e., showcase the total champion points? If possible, could you provide a screenshot of your loading screen?
The number does get a bit small here. We should probably make it larger so it feels more awesome, will pass this on to our visual designers. Currently we aren't planning on showing the total points in the loading screen, just the highest badge. It looks like this. :) [http://imgur.com/IoNbJPD](http://imgur.com/IoNbJPD)

: I am assuming that the massive IP amount will be 1000 IP, based upon previously leaked info from Reddit. Neat.
The largest reward you can get is 16x the IP you earned for the game. So if you earned 100 Ip in a game, it would be a 1600 Ip bonus. A reward that large is of course super rare. The more common rewards are smaller than that, but scale up based on your party size.
: any ideas about the IP amounts being different for different queues, or will they be all the same?
Yea, there is a queue modifier so SR matchmade modes have the best rewards and other queues receive smaller rewards with bot games being the lowest.

: Hello, What happens if you have a tie for the 200th position? Let's say that Player 200 and 201 just played a game together and both won the last game they played for that time period which resulted in both of them having the same amount of lp? How would the system decide who is 200 and who is 201? Very unlikely scenario but I am just curious. Thank you for your time.

How would the system decide who is 200 and who is 201? Very unlikely scenario but I am just curious. Thank you for your time. Clever question. There are a series of tie breakers: Currently these are the rules: 1. If a challenger and a master are tied in LP when the clock hits 0, the tie goes to the incumbent challenger player 2. If two master tier players are tied in LP to enter challenger but there is only 1 spot available the tie goes to the player with more wins. If they have the same number of wins it goes to the player with fewer losses.
: Can i be promoted to master tier or do i need to play ranked and get their by myself to test it? just wondering
> Can i be promoted to master tier or do i need to play ranked and get their by myself to test it? just wondering You'll have to play to earn master, although the thresholds are very low atm for entry on PBE.

: I have a few questions. It says victorious ward, is this the same victorious ward given to us last season and if so will we retain our victorious ward from the previous season if we don't participate in any teams? And if yes to that can we get the triumphant/conquering ward along with our already owned victorious ward?
The ward skin from Season 3 will be retained for anybody who earned it last season. We've moved the ward skin for this season to be a reward for team play, so there won't be a ward skin for tier achievement. The other skill tier rewards (victorious skin, borders, etc) will still be earned based on your maximum achieved tier.
