: Evelynn Update - Questions, concerns and overall comments!
So currently, on the PBE, the ability names of Eve's W and R are different from what was mentioned in her reveal yesterday. Are we sticking with what's on the PBE or what was put in the reveal? Personally, if it's any help, I prefer the reveal's names of Lust Dust and Widowmaker. It's more evocative of Eve's character theme and has more relevance to the abilities' effects than Allure and Last Caress.
: PBE Bugs & Feedback Thread: Pug'Maw!
I'll try to give an objective feedback reply to this, so let's just jump into it: ----------------------------------------------------------------- **SFX:** The SFX are actually pretty cute, and they're very close to what an average puppy pug would sound if he was playing around with a tennis ball like a goof. I enjoy the recall animation as well, because _it really does play up the puppy thematic to a near-immaculate level_. The idle is cute, and I actually do like the underlined snarky jab if the pug just goes idle on an enemy's corpse. But, while the added SFX are top-quality, the clash with the base's distorted voice is jarring, to understate it. If the voice filter is removed for a more realistic tone, then it's still the base champion, but with an attention to detail that fits the skin. I wouldn't even mind that the skin be upgraded to 1350 if there was a better mixture of SFX. As is - **Rating 6/10** -------------------------------------------------------------------- **Recall:** Having the goof of a pug be messing around with his treasured ball is probably the best idea you could put for that animation, because *it's cheerful, cute, and incredibly appropriate.* **Rating 9/10** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Particles:** I honestly had some trouble seeing the particles distinguished across all terrain on the map, so I already think there could be a cleanup done to both streamline the particles and give visual consistency. No one enjoys the difficulty of having to distinguish certain spells because they blend in more than their classic skins (ex. Steel Legion Lux, Underworld TF, Blood Moon Elise, Ravenborn LB, etc.). When they're considered advantageous enough to give a competitive edge and get banned from the tournament realm until there is a visual clarity update to those skins, I think that should be a sign that it would be better to adjust the VFX now. The last thing people want to criticize is that Riot hasn't learned from their lessons, and that criticism will likely pop up if this skin doesn't get another look at those VFX. It may be difficult to find a suitable shade or texture that still retains the thematic, but it is imperative that the clarity is prioritized over the aesthetic. Otherwise, the community has to come to the conclusion that Riot would rather care about money than their guidelines. **Rating 4/10** **A special point to make is that this is likely more difficult for color-blinded players, who can't do anything to shift the color schemes to a more distinct shading. If nothing else, this should be remedied. Even pro players are affected by this (ex. C9 Sneaky) so you still need to consider that particular ripple effect as well.** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Model:** I won't lie, even though I'm still conscious of the fact this is intended to be Kog'Maw, I still see a pug. At no point before this section have I even mentioned Kog'Maw in name, and that was intentional. I see what would be a hilarious concept to bring in for some April Fool's Game Mode where you deal with Pug'Zilla, mixed in with sheer and indescribable horror. I love that we can push the lines of what skins can be realistically incorporated into League, but this is one I honestly felt that Riot compromised their strict guidelines in favor for a better aesthetic, and it shows. The reception has been clearly binary: either people love it and would insta-buy it on Day 1, or they find it revolting and unsuitable for this hilariously popular game of yours. That isn't to say that no other skins garner similar reputations (Lollipoppy, anyone), but this is one that the community clearly feels is both fantastic and could be elevated to the standard that we expect from the Art Department as a holistic piece. A small anecdotal piece: On the first PBE day of this cycle, a friend of mine had heard of Pug'Maw and the reception that it received on Reddit, and was convinced it was a meme until we told him that it was an official skin. He knew about the skin, but was stunned to hear that Riot was the source of this particular one. I think that, if anything, labels this a project that I can't in good faith recommend be released without major modifications. **Rating 2/10** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've come to understand that this is a particularly prized project done by the team, so I want to be respectful of my feedback. As amazing as the pure concept is (Kog'Maw is colloquially a "void-puppy" so let's give him a skin that actually brings that idea to life), I find the execution disappointing. No one expected an actual puppy skin with realistic puppy sounds to be coming out of what is technically a void monster at its core. There are little to no signs of that distinct void vibe there, whereas you could find them on every other skin of his. If he is other-worldly, why does he look exactly like an actual dog? Every other Kog skin has a distinct alien-vibe in its structure and aesthetic, regardless of the theme. Monarch, Deep Sea, Battlecast, Reindeer, Lion Dance, etc. There is no mistaking that these are all not normal creatures, no matter how similar they may be to existing creatures. But why do we have Kog in a joke skin, as an actual puppy? I don't understand that decision and even though I do want to be sensitive, it's one of the few times I dislike a skin or a change to a skin, regardless of my intent to purchase it. Actually, if he gets a different concept execution (Kog'Maw waddling around in a Pug costume), with the other changes I suggested, I would definitely own this skin. In reality, I do see a massive amount of effort invested. After all, the sheer idea of fitting a pug's hyper-realistic look onto what's more of a void-caterpillar is no easy feat, and then to have it resemble an actual pug in both animation and some SFX deserves credit. If I had to summarize my criticism in one statement, it's this: **I love that this was given a lot of careful treatment and care; I wish that such investment had been focused on different details of the skin rather than the hyper-realism of the pug.** ----------------------------------------------------------------- I think the last time I mentioned my opinions on a change, I voiced them over Blood Moon Elise's model palette swaps from a more elegant pink to a bold magenta/red, and I didn't particularly agree because the splash + her theme as a spider queen fit better with the earlier iteration. I'm commenting on the boards for a similar reason: I don't think Kog should remove the "void" of his 'void puppy' title for the sake of one joke skin that clearly has the community divided. Maybe it takes you a bit to reach a decision, and I respect that time. But I do think the team needs to put weight into both sides here, because some parts of the skin are stellar. Some are disappointing, and this from one of the few departments I hold with high praise at Riot. I find the consistency phenomenal, so I won't mind that you can't be perfect all the time. It's literally impossible, as we're all only human. If you could take the effort to listen to what the critics are saying, I think everyone would be appreciative of that consideration. After all, it reaffirms the idea that Riot does listen and care about the community's opinion when it's warranted.
: PBE Bugs & Feedback Thread: Warring Kingdoms Azir!
Random visual bug that popped up trying out the skin: When I had a soldier out, then E-Q'd to try out the combo, Flash'd afterward, and then cast his ult going to opposite direction, I was stuck in Azir's joke form (the one where he "turns" into a bird and pecks around) for the duration of the ultimate existing on the map until it vanishes away. I don't know how easy it is to replicate, but I only tried once and got the bug, so I imagine it has something to do with that particular form of his model + casting ultimate. I gave the steps above to what I was testing prior to experiencing the bug.

Scorched Earth Renekton, if you obtain the skin shard of it, will give the icon for Pool Party Renekton instead. This persists when you hover over the shard, so there seems to be some odd redirecting with this particular skin shard. http://imgur.com/LPIHeRC
