: Clash PBE Test - Multi-Day Tournament
Hey all! Hope you enjoyed some Clash games this week! : Clash PBE Test - Stalled Game Starts & Clash Management Tool
Hey all! Huge thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday’s _super destructive_ Clash test! We successfully simulated one of the most catastrophic events that can occur on Live shards (stalled game starts) and then leveraged our Clash Management Tool (CMT) to add a new phase to the existing tournament to recover teams whose matches failed to start. **What we learned** While we can’t always guarantee that things will go perfectly, we can try to plan for the worst. The Clash Management Tool will be a powerful ally in mitigating the poor player experience that can result when things do go wrong. In this last test we gained confidence in the CMT’s ability to recover from one of the most disastrous scenarios by refunding affected teams and offering them the opportunity to rejoin the Tournament in progress. **What’s next** Next week we will run another PBE test of the full (disaster-free!) multi-day Tournament flow, so stay tuned for more details on the timing and how to participate! : I got a "double bye" on bracket, both games granted as free win. At start, our bracket had only 3 teams, the game didn't put an opponent against my team, so it was a "bye". While we're waiting for other two teams to play and finish we got a notification about game stalls(as expected), closely afterwards our second game ended as a "bye" too and we got our trophy and other stuff **just after 18mins since lock-in ends**. Is it normal or something that should never happen? Can we help with that by sending bug reports and stuff or is it completely a server-side thing? Hey! Thanks for taking the time to share your observations during the test! I apologize for the sub optimal experience of no actual game play, but we can confirm that this outcome (all byes) would be expected in the scenario you described. Because there were only 3 teams in your 4-team bracket, your first match resolved as a bye. Of the other two teams in that bracket, the losing team would have entered the consolation bracket to face your team, but because of the stalled game starts, there was no winner or loser of that match-up to feed into the consolation bracket, meaning your team, once again, had no opponent and so it resolved as a second bye. This is normal for the circumstances of this test, but this scenario should be extremely unlikely in a larger scale tournament outside of PBE. :)

: Clash PBE Test - 4 Team Bracket
Hi all! Thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday’s Clash PBE test! We had added more logging to help us track a down an issue which affected a small number of teams getting in game, and with your help we were able to recreate the errors we saw in our past PBE tests. **What we learned** With the additional logging in place we now have a much better idea of what went wrong and why, and the next steps toward solving it. **What’s next** We’ll be returning our focus on the Clash Management Tool (CMT) and disaster recovery in the next test, by simulating a catastrophic event and using the CMT to save the day! **This next test is scheduled for 9/26, so stay tuned for more details on the timing and how to participate!** Cheers!

With the next couple of clash testing you guys will be putting out I have a feeling that participation will be a little lower than the first round of testing, so my question is - if there were just 2 teams (as an example) participating in the testing would that be sufficient enough feedback for the CMT? With regards to feedback, I absolutely love the layout and fluidity of it all, I think the people who worked on Clash did an amazing job. If there's a suggestion I would make though, is there a way you guys can implement some sort of tab in the client during the scouting phase and have the ability to add champions to ban onto there. While this isn't absolutely necessary I feel this could be a nice QOL addition so you don't have to type down champions on notes, Discord etc... much less even remembering. Hello :) We definitely realize that participation in these tests on PBE won't simulate real-world load on the systems, and that is not our goal or intent, but I think we can safely assume more than 2 teams worth of participation :P That being said, in addition to our internal test efforts, these PBE tests do aim to evaluate our changes on hardware that more closely resembles live environments and ideally at a larger scale. Also, I will happily pass your feedback along to the team, and I think your mock-up is top notch!

Hey all! Thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday’s Clash PBE test! With your help, we were able to successfully exercise the “Revert Step” functionality of our Clash Management Tool (CMT). **What we learned** We have built additional confidence around our ability to use the Clash Management Tool to safely bring teams back to Lock-In from Scouting, and have the Tournament proceed thereafter. While we hope to not have to use this feature of the CMT much, having this tool available means we can do more to protect the player experience when things do go unexpectedly wrong. We observed similar issues in this test that we saw in our first test last week, involving the Tutorial and players who had very recently created their PBE accounts. While this won’t be a possible scenario for Clash outside of PBE testing, we have taken steps on PBE to prevent this from happening in our next test. **What’s next** Our upcoming test will continue to focus on Disaster Recovery, simulating catastrophic events and using the CMT to save the day! **This test is scheduled 9/19, so stay tuned for more details on the timing and how to participate!** Cheers!

We have granted tickets to all PBE accounts so that you don't have to buy any! For newly created accounts, we will be granting tickets again to those about an hour before lock-in (around 15:00 PT on the day of the test), so please try to get your accounts created ahead of that time so you can be sure your account is included in our next sweep :)
: I can't start the tutorial though; play>training>tutorial>start now, then it greys out for a bit and nothing else happens. It's strange because customs, normal draft, and nexus blitz all work :/ tried initiating full repair, and a complete reinstall of the PBE client but no luck. Any ideas?
Sorry for the confusion. You don't _have_ to complete the tutorial on a new account, as long as you can complete any game loops (it sounds like you have been able to play other queues) then you should be fine :)
: Hey, have the tickets for the 11th been given out yet? I'm still at 0 tickets, 0be, 0rp. My team and I really wanna try it out! I tried running the Tutorial before making a team too, (as mentioned in the post) but it wont start :/
If you can queue for and play any games on a new PBE account after completing or exiting the tutorial then I think you should be good to go! And we'll be disbursing additional tickets before the 11th :)
: How about giving some random errors during champ select? That way you can test more severe situations and make sure that you can save the matches for almost all situations.
Testing that we can recover from more severe situations is definitely part of our plans! The test on the 11th will ease us into some of the critical functionality of the Clash Management Tool; helping us build confidence around our ability to keep things moving smoothly if we ever need to delay a tournament for a short duration. The test on 19th will be more hardcore :)

: Clash PBE Test - Staggered Scouting Phase
Hey all! Big thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday’s Clash PBE test! We are really grateful for your help <3 and pleased with the outcome of the test, which has validated many of our backend changes to the game flow to ensure more reliable game starts. :) **What we Learned.** This first PBE test served as a system integration test at a larger scale. We were able to demonstrate reliable game starts as a result of the various pieces of work that have gone into optimizing the systems that move matches through champ select. Our ability to rate limit Clash match starts also means more flexibility per region with respect to the number of game starts that can be handled. We observed some issues with players who had created their PBE accounts immediately before the test. While this won’t be a possible scenario for Clash outside of PBE testing, it has raised visibility on some possible improvements around the new player experience. **What’s Next.** Our upcoming tests will focus more on simulating when things don’t go right, and how we can leverage our new Clash Management Tool to recover gracefully. **These tests are scheduled for 9/11 and 9/19, so stay tuned for more details on the timing and how to participate! ** Cheers!

Yep! You can expect to see updates on Test Details and Tournament Timing a couple of days before Registrations opens. :)
