: Zed's W-Q bug is happening a lot more often than usual
Hey Stun, We have someone looking at this bug but for now I have reproduction steps to help you avoid the bug from occurring in your games. Repro steps 1) Cast W 2) Cast Q behind zed about **1000 units from the shadow** AND approximately **100 milliseconds after W**
: Will the new system address the issues found here:[http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/8UbfJEPt-gameplay-syndras-broken-stunkb-10-patches-and-counting](http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/8UbfJEPt-gameplay-syndras-broken-stunkb-10-patches-and-counting)? Edit: Please reply on behalf of Overlord Forte and all other Syndra mains.
There have been many concerns about Syndra Q+E in this thread and honestly I haven't personally tested her thoroughly yet (there are finite hours in a day!). Since so many people are concerned however, I will look deeper into this and if it's not fixed I'll try to get it fixed.
: Currently on live (5.10), Fizz's shark damages untargetable champions that it has latched onto (Vlad W, Fizz E, Master Yi Q). But on the PBE (5.11), I've noticed that Fizz's shark[ no longer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3M7enJO1FU) damages untargetable champions it has latched onto. Is this part of the champion spell changes? Or is it an unrelated change?
It is unlikely that our new missile system changed this behavior, but I'll look into this and post back here with answers. Thanks for showing me.
: is this only for linear skillshots or will it have an effect on other types of spells (cone/circle/etc.)? i'm asking in particular about syndra who has people routinely not get knocked back by her e or the bounced sphere off her q+e combo and in the worst cases even this https://youtu.be/zEty_XigiMw also i would like to know a bit better what "rewriting all the skillshots in the game means" does it mean you manually cleaned up each spell's hitboxes? or that you rewrote the code that does collision checking? will skillshots feel different now, be tighter or connect more often, etc.? does it fix the invisible skillshots like nidalee spears and lux e's?
There has been extra concern about Syndra and so I'll put extra time into testing her. I'm a quality analyst and not an engineer. I can't speak specifically about the differences in writing, but to my understanding there was a framework of code that existed. This code handled how missiles were created, flew, and destroyed. My team re-wrote that entire code and replicated how the old system worked minus some bugs and with the potential for more creative uses of missiles. So, you shouldn't experience differences in how the missiles function. Practically though, re-writing this code is bound to produce differences. These differences should have insignificant or no gameplay impact though. If there ends up being significant differences, we will fix them.
: I'm actually surprised that the bug has been there for quite a long time since I've never experienced the bug as playing Ashe and everyone's been saying they had it forever. \*pat on shoulder\* Congrats to finishing the work and hopefully it won't spill bugs!

While the bug existed for a while, it's quite uncommon. The bug requires at least two targets to be in the line of fire and even then there's quite a low chance that it'll happen. There's your random factoid of the day. Sorry you'll never win a trivia game with it.
: Ive also seen this mostly with Aatrox if he jumps from the fog of war he goes flying straight up off screen.
> [{quoted}](name=MrTea4,realm=PBE,application-id=cMKtzQHY,discussion-id=XAE2whzZ,comment-id=00010000,timestamp=2015-05-30T00:03:35.229+0000) > > Ive also seen this mostly with Aatrox if he jumps from the fog of war he goes flying straight up off screen. > [{quoted}](name=Rememdium,realm=PBE,application-id=cMKtzQHY,discussion-id=XAE2whzZ,comment-id=0001,timestamp=2015-05-29T23:03:40.203+0000) > > I don't have video of it, but I've noticed while playing ARAM on PBE that some skillshots from Fog of War seem to come from a very high altitude. It was most noticeable against Ziggs, also I was west side. This is alarming to me. I will check this out, thanks guys x.^
: First take a nap Rito, ZEN FIRE ZEE MISSILES! I hope someone else gets the reference.

I do too. RiotKateyKhaos actually gets the credit for that one. I asked her to help with making my post. She added that dank meme.
: I'm very glad you have a team to clean up the (probably terrible, judging by the kind of bugs we see around) code that makes up the game mechanics. Are there any plans to have all champion code written or at least reviewed by actual programmers rather than having designers do it directly? Surely this would help avoiding another Azir fiasco. Keep up the good work.
"Are there any plans to have all champion code written or at least reviewed by actual programmers rather than having designers do it directly? Surely this would help avoiding another Azir fiasco." Honestly this is a bit over my head since I'm not involved with the champion release team. That team is separate from mine I am unable to speak 100% accurately about their future plans or current state.
: How did it work before, and how does it work now?
Playerside, it should work exactly the same. It totally won't though because what kind of dream world are we living in that we could re-write something that is exactly the same. More practically, there will be small insignificant differences probably everywhere but importantly **we were able to fix an "unfixable" bug**
: I will test Syndra extensively but is she good to go now? Because she has so many bugs it's like The mummy returns when I play her...Terrible jokes aside she is really broken right now. It is a shame to see one of my favorite champs unplayable.
Oh boy gee golly. You're the third(?) post I've seen on her! I will test the crap out of her as well since you and others have shown especial concern about her. I'm also sad since she was one of my favorite mid champions. SO MUCH UNTAPPED POWER.
: Will this fix combo skill shots like Jayce and Syndra's E+Q or just regular skill shots?
Combo skill shots are included in our system. Jayce's E+Q I've personally messed around with a lot and so I'm pretty confident it's fine. I'm seeing a general theme that Syndra's Q+E is problematic though. If you have video, I'd appreciate that. I'm going to go ahead and test it a bunch anyways though since you're not the first one to bring her up.
: Will lux's lasor actually go through properly now :c the amount of times ppl have been right on top of the lasor and they dont get hurt or damaged is so annoying, or how if they move to one side of the lasor they dont get hit but the other side they do get hit.
This could address that. Would you happen to have videos of this happening? I'm going to personally check and cast it a bunch of times but it helps to have a video so that I'm not just shooting in the dark. I feel like there's a joke there since I'm shooting a giant light beam into metaphorical darkness. Something something nocturne.
: Wow, I didn't know Riot had a team like this. Are there any other big improvements you've made under the hood that you never told the community about?
Yes, other large under the hood changes have been made by this team. I wasn't involved with the other projects and so I'm not familiar with what specifically they've fixed. I'll ask the team since I'm just curious now as well. A reason you might not have heard of this team is because it's not permanent. It's created on a need basis. Specifically this time, the team was brought together because our missile system was so dysfunctional that bugs couldn't be fixed without creating new ones. Extreme things like that require a complete overhaul, but most things actually don't and so this team dissolves once they're "done" with whatever they were called together for. I like to think of us as the Justice League.
: Just out of curiosity, how did them work and how are them going to work (If you can share this information, of course)? Is there a big difference in programming them? Will it be different for us players?
The old system was not able to support a lot of things. I'm not an engineer- I'm a Quality Analyst and so I won't pretend to know how the old system is written as opposed to the new system, but essentially everything should behave exactly or almost exactly in the new system as it does the old system. What's different for players is that a bug that was considered un-fixable in the old system is now fixed in our system. It also means that there's the possibility to be more creative with skillshots, allowing the potential for really interesting abilities.
: Is this bug(?) also intended? I mean from a logical point of view it doesn't make any sense that the pull doesn't follow Blitzcranks movement including displacements. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7YIs_TSWBg
This is intended and as such it falls in the domain of Design. Should this interaction work like this? The answer is an opinion! There's room for both sides of the argument and if some players think this is a bug then I think that says a lot. For this specific video though, I think that video is more of a "Wow that was funny!" situation more than a "This was a game breaking bug!"
: Will the new skillshot system be addressing these bugs as well? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6o_Jh1Wm2f54JKXGW6zJwe5r4t4mawU4
potentially. Would you happen to know if there is a consistent (For me, consistent is at least 1/50) reproduction for this? I will check for this either way, but I'll be shooting in the dark since I'm not sure how this happened.
Hey, thanks for posting this. I see what you're talking about. This bug is a result of the VFX that is attached to the ground not dealing with differences in height. Unfortunately, the only current method we have of remedying this problem is making that VFX higher. Too high though, and the VFX starts to look really bad. Always. Essentially, this is a lesser of two evils thing. That bug will happen to abilities like Karthus E as well where it cuts under the terrain sometimes. Remedying these things have the cost I just told you about or we have to fix it with different methods. Different methods have different costs however. For example, performance loss for players. We've decided that this bug is the lesser of two evils for now. However, if this bug manifests in more impactful ways that ruin player experience, we will re-visit this bug. I hope you understand the situation, let me know if you think about this. x.^
That bug _should_ be fixed on PBE. I tested it myself! More context! Live servers are on 5.10 right now. PBE is 5.11. Our changes are online right now in PBE (5.11). So, Live servers still have the bug you linked. PBE (the 5.11 patch) should not have that bug anymore.

Hey MrBi11, I tried to reproduce this bug but wasn't able to do so. Do you have more information that could help me reproduce this bug? perhaps a video, specifically where you cast it, things that will help me make this happen when I try it on my computer x.^
