: PBE Bugs & Feedback Thread: God-King Garen
So I tweeted this to Riot Ohmu, Adam Turnbull, and one other animator was looped in (the one who did the auto attacks, I believe) by Ohmu. This I posted in both threads just for posterity. My suggestion is that for both God King skins, the "crit" animation be looped in as something else. The best option I think would be to add them as a third basic attack, sort of as an end to the basic attack "chain" they both already do anyway - which is to swing left, then right. The reason being that both champions in these skins return to a two-handed, neutral stance after basic attacking, so if they were to do a "left, right, center" pattern, it would both utilize a great animation that isn't ever going to be seen otherwise (Darius does not build crit in 99% of games, and with the changes, I don't think Garen really ever will either) barring silly games and so forth, and that's just a bummer because they're good animations. Darius also is sporting a completely new kind of swing for his - as his normal crit animation is a big lateral two-handed swing, this one is a huge overhead. Garen's stab animation I believe is the same as usual, but is still an almost never-seen animation. So my suggestions are as follows: Make the "crit" animation a third basic attack swing, as an end to the existing "chain" created by the pattern of left to right swings If that's not something the team wants to do, my alternate suggestions are: Make it a basic he only does with five hemorrhage stacks - this way he won't be using it a ton, if the team doesn't want that. Maybe make it a W animation? My concern here is that his W is kind of important to know what he's doing, and since he slices low on all skins, that may be an issue, but my counter-point is that his laugh and stance change kind of indicates he's about to W you anyway. For Garen, the only thing I can think of is adding it to his basic chain, because his Q needs to be a leap, and he doesn't really have any sort of stacking. My only suggestion would be to make it so if he basic attacks the villain, he stabs them. Thanks for hearing me out, but I feel like this is very important to the value of the skins and to the work the animators did by allowing us to see it aside from mucking around in the practice tool or once in a very, very blue moon where you're building a stat on a champion who virtually never builds that stat.

The model is fine, the recall animation not having like a "wind-down" or whatever, like many newer skins have, is a bummer. The sound on the Q doesn't seem to "pop" enough - it sounds kind of quiet and a little too similar to the autos, and the particle on contact isn't very visible. Otherwise, it's a pretty solid entry into this line. I do think the particles could use some adjustments though - LZ Hecarim's for example are much easier to see.
: Irelia's VGU skins feel rushed/low priority. What do you think?
What bugs me (enough that I made a separate thread about it) is that Frostblade is a 1350, Infiltrator is a 975 (well, it was - I could see it going up in price now that it has new stuff) but Infiltrator has its own recall animation but Frostblade does not. Yet they both have particles and whatnot - Frostblade has a pair of voice lines, Infiltrator has one for destroying a tower. So that seems kinda balls to me.
