: I can't speak first hand to any of the decisions revolving around modes. I feel like you may have read one or more of these, but just in case, here are relevant dev posts on the topic of maintaining RGM modes, URF, and TFT. [Why _historically_ URF hasn't been made permanent despite popularity](https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/12/ask-riot-urf/) [The cost of maintaining any RGM long term on Live, or even PBE, even as just a custom game](https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2019/02/ask-riot-game-modes-metals/) [Why TFT was released as a permanent mode and not an RGM like all previous new game modes, and context for the current plans for modes like URF in the near future](https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2019/07/dev-state-of-modes/) To your question of why URF isn't a permanent _PBE_ mode is because PBE is a test server meant to test things that will potentially go live. We're disabling URF the latter half of this week because we want PBE to better mirror what will be going live for 9.19, and URF won't be live during this time. URF on PBE right now is here for testing because we plan on having URF go live later this year, and it requires an extended testing period to ensure it's stable by the time we roll it out. This is a solid example of what is mentioned in the second link regarding the surprisingly large cost of getting a mode to release quality. Happy to give my take on any follow up questions, but keep in mind a lot of my answer is a mix of what I've read in posts like the ones linked and my job, which revolves more around content as it nears release in the patches.
I know decisions for the game don't fall to one person, and I do appreciate you for replying and providing me with information, so thank you for not keeping it vague like many other game staff would with just "eh, it happens". While I personally find it odd how something like TFT can be a permanent game mode, while URF can't, is entirely my opinion. But I'll take it that URF can't provide to the game since there's no skins for the SR map, or pets to follow you around. TLDR; Since URF doesn't provide possibilities for micro transactions, it can't be a permanent mode, is what I got from this. Though I don't see TFT living for too long, considering the game is too, repetitive. Every game is luck based, leaving no room for strategy, having ranked games for it is laughable because as I said, it's luck based, while someone will get two Rageblades in one turn, I'm left with only getting 1 coin from the first round and all the other rounds give me absolutely nothing. And everyone always goes for the same overpowered champions in that patch, leaving no room for visual variety. It got dull fairly quick but it's doing well since you guys still left it in and keep adding more gamble pets to buy. So something's working.
: With urf on pbe, less players play on live servers. Not sure what you think about live server queue times.

Not sure what you think about live server queue times. You underestimate how many people would pick URF over SR, while it's popular yes, but not everyone waits years to play URF and only URF, competitive players will still do rankeds. And even so, I don't go on lives because PBE offers the same but lets me help Riot bug test the game and see if the new skins have any glitches. So in the end, PBE will be superior than lives because unless you're going for those pointless ranks in lives to brag in school to impress gamer girls, PBE in general is better.
: It is because the amount of players drop to a level that is lower before URF started. And it stays that way for a few months. I just think they should keep it in PBE 24/7

: Time to change ARURF to AOURF (Always On Ultra Rapid Fire) because this a game mode that should just be permanently added imo. I have way more fun than I ever do with League when it comes to URF. It's nice to just have super quick, non-competitive games where tilting is so minimal that it's basically non-existent when playing. Riot/Tencent need to realize that League doesn't need rotating game modes, it needs staple game modes that any player can enjoy at any given point. Why would a game company want seasonal, fair-weathered players over stable, consistent ones? I would definitely fall under the latter if they made more game modes permanent rather than rotating, especially URF.

Because they don't have their own micro transactions like TFT, URF doesn't earn them money so they don't care. {{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}}
: I think that's the point. Riot is trying to "balance" urfmode because it's not fun, so people wont like it. If people play urf, they wont buy shitty champions for urf. Riot thinks they'll lose money or something. On top of that, it makes the normal game seem kinda boring sometimes. I think Riot is just trying to make URF boring enough that _everyone_ hates it so they can stop bringing it back. That being said, it was still pretty fun playing it this round. I had no problem with sticking to these "meta-y" builds and still had about a 50-50 winrate.

Or when my jungler afks in the jungle all game like a bot. Oops. {{sticker:zombie-brand-clap}}
: [ARURF] So, ARURF once more, is it?
Have fun trying dealing with a late game Thresh or Jhin. They'll auto you once for 5k no matter how many thornmails you buy. But this applies to AP champs too. Everyone with any sort of AP scaling will buy a gunblade and zap you for half your HP and then sneeze an ability for clean up. Like Jax and Tryndamere, with Trynda not even being able to die the first seconds you encounter, meaning if you don't have CC in your kit or a team mate with you, that boy will guarantee himself a kill everytime. Or you have cases like Diana, LeBlanc or Veigar. If any of these come into your lane post level 6, you might as well go under tower and recall because god bless being able to one shot with just a doran's ring am I right. Bottom line is, URF will never be balanced, and that's not Riot's fault, the champion's kits are for regular play, where cooldown and mana limits their usage. URF is supposed to make you go "WTF happened, I just got out of base a second ago". While some people lack the brain muscle to understand this and see the game for what it is, A Game, they'll constantly spout racial slurs, offensive commentary and other insults in languages I never heard existed. Which is honestly sad, that my team mates hurt me more than the one shot Diana gives me every time I land from the catapult.{{sticker:sg-ahri-1}}
: No URF for when 9.19 hits live. After we disable it later this week for 9.19, you can expect it's return during the 9.20 PBE cycle.

After we disable it later this week for 9.19, you can expect it's return during the 9.20 PBE cycle. Any reason why URF isn't a permanent PBE mode? since Twisted Tree Line got removed and we have an empty slot, I don't see the harm. Not to mention that you guys always said you wouldn't do permanent modes but TFT definitely isn't going to be leaving soon since it's got it's own micro transactions. I know you've heard this plenty but, even if you're aware of URF's popularity, I don't see the harm of taking that popularity in your favor and have an unique take on URF just like you did with TFT. {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-popcorn}}
