: Galio Feedback Thread
RIP Galio... all-star champ for 3 years in a row. Now to become this. If only people saw you for what u really were
: Tweak to meet Galios Magic eating Fantasy.
Old Galio was fantastic, new Galio is trash^ Didn't meant to fix your typo. Just do t wanna go misinforming people
: I agree his tankyness is lacking a little with a minor adjustment it could be fixed (possibly a small shield given by his ult for when it gets used?), however his AP output is higher.
Yeah like I said it's higher.. bit barely. In terms of all in it's about the same if not less. In terms of lane it's more BUT you have to get close. Which sucks cause you're not as tanky and you can't heal yourself back to full I'm between waves. So it's a lot more risky to go all I and you have to go all in.
: at the same time look at shens ult. he cannot cast that on himself its to another ally only.
But shens ult is global, more reliable and has more influence in helping your teammate and doesn't leave she high and dry
: I think it would be over powered if he could ult where he wanted, but wish you could ult to ally towers, as this seems like a fair adjustment! He is a gargoyle!
Galio isn't a gargoyle. In fact he never was a gargoyle. He was a golem. Now a different type of cocky golem or something... either way His ult is garbage now. Ok dmg, low CC, decent windup time, good range (not global).overall it's a very very mediocre ult. In fact his kit is far more mediocre then before the rework. Slightly more damage unless you include ults. With out damage old Galio would out damage new Galio even if the new Galio hits his kit. He is nowhere near as tanky as the old Galio. Only thing new Galio has is better CD... I think his ult needs another rework but Idk what that is.
: Galio Feedback Thread
Ok other than how much I don't like this new Galio I do have feedback to his in game model. He is TOO upright for the camera angle. In fact it almost looks like he is leaning back and looking upwards slightly. A small tweak to have him look ahead may make his head not look as awkward or as small. Also an increase in model size can be nice even though he has 'wings'
: I've played old Galio a little bit and thematically he's still kept the protection and sadness vibe but I just got PBE lol so I don't know about the gameplay. I've gone through the VO and it's a lot more friendly to old Galio if you read the lore before you play the champ. It's not the same and I'm going to miss being able to rush SV/Abyssal against a mage or being able to laugh at a Cassio, but I think new Galio has potential. As much as I liked old Galio as a character and elements of his kit, it was relatively unhealthy and not at all synchronized. I can see the thought but Q and W having such long range on such a short-ranged character wasn't good. His passive was uninteractive for players and was invisible, just grab MR. Overall I'd like to like the rework but it doesn't fit the thematic feel or capture the magic-eating portion of Galio. He's a statue now, not a gargoyle, and that's really a loss. The kit has the ability to be very good but the E feels forced and rushed. I feel like the rework could've taken a few more months in exchange for a product on the level of Warwick. I know it's a VGU and everything's supposed to change, but seriously, scrap the dumbass "Justice Punch" and give Galio back Bulwark. And change his ult, bleh.
Well the statue thing. W.e... Also he was never a 'gargoyle' he was a golem. That looked like a gargoyle. That being said his new base is ugly as hell. The worst visual update to date. Kit wise it is way different. You could have easily replaced his old q and e and passive with the new ones and it would have been fine. Lore wise he is conflicting between a 'defender of Demacia' and a 'i wanna punch stuff statue' He talks about nothing but fighting, not even for the sake of Demacia he just throws that in there for continuity or something. It does t even come across that he wants peace, at all. He'd rather have conflict so he can be the hero. He is glad yo have people be in danger and everyone be miserable and war torn just to test his skills. Yes he found out people can die and it didn't even add any dramatic tension because he goes back to 'I wanna punch stuff' Bad visual update: ugly Ok gameplay (but not galio): prob has 20% at most of what old Galio was Bad lore update: one of the few intelligent characters that had good hearts... in fact one of the few characters that aren't so sure of themselves 100% of the time.... even ivern who is a pacifist was once a blood hungry killer... like stop with these characters. Poppy visual was amazing Her gameplay was atkeast 50/50 old and new and half the new stuff was cool Her lore was changed a bit as well. Yorick had an amaaaazing visual upgrade His gameplay was pretty drastic as well although his old kit was way more repatative and hard to balance since it was the same spell 3 times and would be broken with any buffs His lore is pretty sweet and somber. I am ok with poppy changes I'm a little meh with yorick And I hate hate hate Galio rework (and unfortunately I was a Galio once trick) So. Fml
: Galio Feedback Thread
So the lore for Galio is out. It is confirmed he is a bumbling 'fight me now moron who actively seeks 'violence' he should have preferred peace much to his suffering than wanting conflict and having Demacia be in danger or conflict. He should have climbed to hope that magic would animate him but not just to fight. I'm tired of these 'i live yo fight and love to fight' characters... especially from a so called defender.
: About Galio after sadness and playing (Day five)
Not much votes in. Please contribute, new 'galio' has been around for a week.
: If the problem is his damage reduction on W, just replace it with his old AP scaling heal and maybe add MR scaling if you want to keep some synergy with tank items.
I WISH they would give him his healing back instead instead of that dumb dmg reduction they are just sticking on champs. I know it was part of his old out but his old w was the best and most unique part of his kit.
: I think Galio is in a good spot now tbh im getting used to his play style and i see him being viable even at high elo imo. I think maybe lower his base damage reduction for w and r and put an ap ratio there would tune down full tank galio a little bit more and keep ap galio on the same spot overall if the ratios puts his damage reduction arround the same numbers. I also think r could just an Ap ratio buff to make ap galio landing ults more IMPACTFUL damage wise. I am 100% sure that when hes going to be on the live server if he ever turns out to be too strong and 100% pick ban whatever it would be full tank Galio.
Yeah let's put more into his unreliable ult and make his dmg reduction way worse than his old w and ww's e. That'll fix Galio.
: > [{quoted}](name=I only galio,realm=PBE,application-id=2EAF660193FA3B668D7234B3AEBB530C5AB7F651,discussion-id=nXeKtfuJ,comment-id=00380000000000000000,timestamp=2017-03-13T00:46:54.150+0000) > > Traditional skin is worthless. I wouldn't give any fucks if they did that. He still is a boisterous giant bumbling statue that leaps around. I only partly agree. The traditional skin was what convinced me to play the reworked Karma after I was disappointed that I had "lost" my former main support. The traditional skin conserved a lot of her former character which made it easier for me to get used to her rework. What I do agree with: Galio now being a walking "statue" makes it very hard to conserve his former character in a traditional skin - mostly, because old Galio is/was flying.
Was flying, hunched over, muscular instead of layered in designed armor, demon like appearance They couldn't even get the legendary skin looking at cool. His face is fugly with a weird beard with no mustache and a bright silver nose. Like What? I don't understand how they made poppy and yorick look good (even though poppy was a slightly more successful rework). I'm not very impressed with yorick either. But atkeast their appearances looked good.
: Since you did not specify "Good", "Great", "Poor", I wasn't too sure how to vote in your poll. What I _am_ sure about is that the new Galio is anything but "great". He might be a more reliable support (more CC) and a better jungler (AoE innate, CC, DR, 2 gap-closing abilities), but I agree with what most people said about him: that he feels more like a completely new champ. On the one hand, I see problems in sending him back top, since his ult is very limited up there and armour items seem to be less viable on him (despite the taunt) as compared to pre-rework Galio; on the other hand, his ult has a chance to dominate Twisted Treeline due to shorter distances and frequent teamfights.
Well Its a mix of do you like him, chances of using/maining him, or being happy with him on your team over other champions. Are the chances of you maining or being happy with him great With the chances of you using him or being happy with him good Or are the chances of using him and being happy with him poor So it's a mix of being happy with the rework and as a champ that you may have to play with
: I mean I agree that new galio sucks but I'm pretty sure voluntary polls are a terrible source for several reasons. I guess we might have to wait for his release. Although even if this rework is total failure I doubt Riot they'd revert it. Maybe if people complain enough we can at least get a traditional skin out of all this.
Traditional skin is worthless. I wouldn't give any fucks if they did that. He still is a boisterous giant bumbling statue that leaps around. He has has the least about the original than any of the champs. Trundle had a drastic lore and physical change, similar to Galios is but atkeast trundles kept 75% of his gameplay. So him having a traditional skin is like an homage to a champ they barely changed. Galio isn't Galio. He was removed from the game and replaced.
: Can I ask where you're getting these numbers and are they reliable? I'd really love to believe you're right and the majority dislikes the rework but I kinda find that hard to believe without some strong evidence. As much hate I see for this rework I'm also seeing a lot of praise So it's really hard to tell what the general consensus is
It's just going by polls throughout league forums and Reddit. They may not be pure because of low numbers of people voting but it seems to be accurate for the minor amount of people voting. Maybe it's have a higher appreciation amongst general league players but o feel the numbers may actually be worse for those who play a decent amount of Galio and even worse for those who mained him. It's a tricky one because his play rate is so low as well. Even though he is a pretty well balanced and versatile champion.
: new galio has too many strengths so he's going to be a nightmare to balance. lots of CC, damage reduction, high bases and high scalings, plus his ult letting him turn fights around. his passive is super busted if you build enough damage since it resets completely if you land Q or W on at least 2 guys, so you can double or triple-proc it and just wipe people out faster than a fed Illaoi. he feels like this amalgamation between juggernaut damage, tank durability, mage poke and support peeling. he's way too general and not niche enough; not one thing about his mechanics tells you he's supposed to be an anti-mage; he just gets a magic shield for doing nothing. his W and R don't feel good to use at all. the more i play the rework the less I enjoy it; these two spells are really ruining it for me. his passive, Q and E are a lot of fun though, and he's still pretty enjoyable to play as an AP fighter. i know they won't but i kinda wish they'd work on this new galio a little longer, delay him for a patch or two and tweak him
While I don't agree with m9st of your post that seems to be what people like about him (the people that do) is that he is just an all in ap bruiser now.. and most people on pbe just play him jungle at this point mostly cause of all the aoe, the ok tank potential and his ultimate. It's sad what Galio became.

new Galios New Promotor Score is very low, in corporate signs that is bad. -46 (Baised) NPS from Galio players 13 (Unbaised) NPS from none galio players -8 (True) NPS from all players. so he failed as a rework, he failed very harshly as a galio main rework, and his new kit is Ok. people on the PBE arent very good but they already nerfed new galio to the ground before he was released so he will prob have a high failure rate in ranked games on top of the artifically high ban rate all new champions have. He barely appeased playerbase with rework, he will be used more jsut cause he is new, his winrate will prob tank, and his old fanbase overall hates it on top of gimmicky (and in a worse way) kit. lee sin playerbase got to win against their changes but the galio fanbase will be voiceless. i am a player who spent over 2000 hours playing Galio on one account the past 3 years... and maybe anotehr 3 hundred hours on my other accounts. i have been a high rating Galio player and msot of my joy was playing Galio... i am very dissapointed
: Galio Feedback Thread
Sigh. Even though new Galio is expected to build armor it's shitty how he gets no free armor in his kit like his old kit and doesn't scale off him armor to remotely resemble Galios old synergy with armor. But then again this isn't Galio since he was removed from game. so it's ok i guess. Right?
: Some more (kinda) in-depth Galio feedback
They don't care that it's not galio. I spent over 2000 hours playing galio in ranked and they diknt even bat an eyelash at my opinions They don't care
: Wait is Galio going to lose the AD scaling on his Passive? If so can his passive stun small jungle monsters? Give some love for Jungle Galio.
He doesn't have 'ad scaling' on his passive. It's an AA with aoe turned into magic dmg with MR scaling and now AP scaling and only bonus MR scaling.
: Classic bipolar child. I'm done replying to you.
Im not bipolar. Just observing how old Galio related to new Galio and then comparing to pantheon. (Which is apples to oranges but I'm trying to compare for the sake of comparing). I work in marketing/consulting and Medicare and have a strong understanding on number relations and NPS I haven't thoroughly done a proper score tally because new Galio is still fresh and I do not have much data for a few more days. So far his NPS seems to be generally more accepted by player base while as the B (biased) NPS -galio players with 20+ ranked games- is in negative numbers. His balance as a champ is not out of wack and pantheon is an entirely different champ he is reliable in an entirely different way. I'm sorry that I am a league player who mained Galio and a relatively thoughtful and math oriented successful individual who is able to construct opinions based of play style and statistics but at the same time be a 'bipolar child' cause you are likely not savvy enough in math, strategy and in terms of a general league player.
: I've already play tested Galio. Calling Galio trash though? That simply just means you're not playing him right. The basis to buff Panth's ult is simply just: Why would Riot go to such lengths to make Panth's ult underpowered, but turn right around and bring back into the game something exactly like what they didn't want in the game. In this situation you either buff Panth's ult or you nerf Galio's ult.
Other than channel time.pans ikt is better in almost every way. Are you silver on your main or something and have no understanding of math and mechanics? Also afte4 seeing how Galio is more of a bruiser now than anything else he isn't all trash. Just goodish. Not strong or weak. I'm at the point that ok smart that he isn't Galio anymore.
: If Lee got a full update including new visuals there wouldn't be much they could do about it either. Getting all this art done and the voice acting costs a lot of money. It'd take a miracle to convince them to spend even more redoing any rework of this scope, or to throw their money away by scrapping it.
Lee WAS getting a rework then Reddit had a hissy fit and they stopped it
: **TLDR: **This new champ is great, but doesn't feel like Galio. Hey, dudes. Been a long-time Galio fan and I wanted to leave some initial thoughts on the big guy's update. --- **Visuals, Animations, Sound Effects** * Beautiful. He looks like a modern champion. Spell effects are nice and clear. You can tell what's going on when he uses abilities. All of the full VGU's have succeeded in this area. I missed the blue color at first, but this definitely looks more Demacian. Matches the design elements shown on the Universe page. Animation on the ultimate is rad. The sound effects on Passive, E, and R sound strong and rock-y. **Voice Over** * Voice acting is great, especially once you get past some of the generic "gonna punch stuff" lines. The actor was able to bring something extra to a rather simple personality. Love the item and champion-specific lines. Bubblegum joke is a nice touch. **Skins** * Hot damn all the skins look amazing. Splash arts are all top-notch, as usual. * **Gatekeeper:** Heckin' cool. Glad the green spell effects were kept (I remember last time you guys went in and made them orange and then switched back to green after some complaints). Updated VO is great and I enjoy it much more than base Galio's lines. This is the first Legendary skin that was part of a VGU and it definitely met my expectations for the update. * **Commando:** Each VGU seems to have one or two old and busted skins that become the new hotness. For Warwick, it was Tundra Hunter. Twitch had Kingpin. For Galio, it's definitely Commando. Skin is sleeper OP. Love the passive effects on his wrists and green glow on the wings. * **Enchanted:** Runner-up for new hotness. Glad to see a skin keep some blue, since Base Galio is white now. This is a great direction for the skin theme and it would be great to see skins like Earthrune Skarner and Runeborn Xerath eventually (*very* eventually) updated to match. * **Hextech:** Good stuff. Previous version was basically "trash robot." This new one feels in line with the current idea of what Hextech is and how it looks aesthetically. * **Debonair:** Give that man a beard. This skin probably had the least amount of change, but it's still a huge improvement. I remember the previous version being pulled off the PBE for changes, then came back and never ended up being all that great. Updated version definitely delivers on the theme of the skin and looks better, as a whole. Probably helps that we can see the front of the champion and not just a hunched-over back flying around. **Lore** * TBD. We only have the short version at the moment. Makes sense as a huge protector of Demacia. I appreciate that he's specifically designed to ward off magic. **Ability Kit** * **Passive / Colossal Smash:** Yeah, ok. Nice to have some bonus damage. Glad there's an MR ratio in there. The reduced CD on spell hits is pretty interesting. I imagine alternating between spells and autos will be crucial to maximizing damage in fight. * **Q / Winds of War:** I really like this spell. Feels like a mix of Old Galio's Q and E (which were often spammed together, anyways). *Please change the name to Righteous Gust.* Not digging "Winds of War" as a name. Galio seems pretty focused on brawling and punching, but nothing in his VO implies that all-out War is his interest. Galio wants a challenging 1vs1, not for his nation to be a constant warzone. * **W / Shield of Durand:** Nice shoutout to Durand. I imagine he'll be in the expanded Lore. Ability seems like a Twist on Warwick's Howl. I know the same team didn't work on both of them and it probably wouldn't even be a conversation if there were some other champions/updates released between the two. Glad to see an AOE taunt remain on Galio's kit, although this one seems to be used very differently than his old ultimate. * **E / Justice Punch:** This ability looks pretty cool. I like the uppercut and it combos nicely into his Passive. Not allowing it to pass over terrain is smart. Some mobility should help get off some good W's in fights. * **R / Hero's Entrance:** Alright, this is pretty dope. Even though you're calling him a Warden, this is really his only "protect a friend" spell. I don't know how necessary the bonus knockup in the middle is, especially since it's not really a skillshot. It kind of puts in more on the enemy to leave that it does on you to use it correctly. Animal on this one is really nice. Love how the camera zooms out and follows. --- **Updating Galio** * Alright, here's where the update fails, in my opinion. This ain't Galio. Updates like Yorick, Warwick, Poppy, and Taric all excelled at retaining what was special about the old champ and bringing it into the modern game. I don't think Galio's works on that level. * Galio's new personality is nothing like his old one and he's not very unique. * Vi does the "talk about punching" better than Galio does. * Zac's cocky hero with good intentions attitude is more defined. * Maokai already has the "I didn't ask for this" thing going on. * Malphite is rock solid. * The only other thing he talks about is Demacia, and the other Demacian champions already make it clear where they're from. * I know old Galio didn't have very many voice lines under his belt, but his tone felt wise and experienced. His lore was a story of duty, failure, sorrow, and moving forward. New Galio is a strong, dumb statue. He doesn't seem to have any of the depth that I was looking for. Maybe some of it will be shown when his backstory comes out, but none of it is present in his VO. That's strange, since recent champions and updates have done really well at including a lot of that stuff right in their VO lines. Objectively, this is a better champion than old Galio. He's polished. His kit makes sense. His visuals are rad. He's different, though. He doesn't play like Galio. He doesn't sound like Galio. He doesn't look like Galio. And that's kind of a bummer. This is probably the biggest departure from the original champion since Sion. That being said, Sion's update was probably one of the best updates (if not *the* best), so I'm not too worried. I can already tell that I will love playing the new kit. I enjoy champions with lots of CC (Thresh, Gnar, Nautilus, for example). But part of me will miss that old heal-tanking, MR stacking, flying blue ball with an ultimate that was made useless any time the other team had a Braum, Udyr, Blitz, Volibear, Leona, or Garen. RIP in peace, gargoyle bro.
I agree up to the better champion than Galio. I've had much better match ups so far than this new Galio. Only thing with new Galio is he is slightly more reliable for his team mates and a lot less reliable for himself.
: This was before they released it on the PBE. This was during the initial leak. Even so I still stand by this. Either they buff Panth's ult or they nerf Galio's ult. Simple as that. The cast time is a problem 1s to charge, 1s to land , knocks up for 1s, gives damage reduction to the selected ally, and the damage isn't limited to how close or far you are. Because you land almost instantly it's very easy to follow up. Even if you can't follow up the enemy laner will have used flash if they don't have any other escapes. Panth's ult may not have the target restriction but it takes 2s to charge, 1.5s to land, has a 1s slow, and the damage depends on how close you are to the center. Panth has a harder time following up just because of how long it takes to land.
You do realize Galios out RN is pretty trashy right? If you buffs pans out on the basis of one champion or nerf his already mediocre ult is uncalled for
: Feedback on Galio
Unfortunately Galio players critical opinions will go ignored because it's a smaller base than Lee win fans who had a similar opinion and changes were stopped to appease his base.
: Game has to change. Champ have to change to fit in the new meta and or compete with new champs Mid lane Zyra is gone thanks to riots feel that her plants were too much in support (yet Malz Pets are fine with a little damage nerf)
All he has left is one artillery spell and a nerfed version of his old out. He is not Galio in the slightest. Yesterday I faced a mundo whom is never EVER die against as old Galio. This new one it was difficult cause he was able to bully while old Galio was very anti bully. Zyra may have a new preferred lane but she still could be played any lane she wants with a little nerfs. Kind if like how Morgan's was a mid for a long time before she was a support. That's a difference of play style and who feels what is more effective. Old Galio was a better top than mid but people player him mid. Old Galio was also very anti bully. New Galio also seems to be better top but his play style is more of a wind them down until it's time to go in so it'll be more annoying against sustain or like champs. He is not like old Galio at all. Not in kit or visuals.
: Instead, post it on the [Official Feedback Thread.](http://boards.pbe.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-gameplay-feedback/nXeKtfuJ-galio-feedback-thread)
I post on both. My longer version in the boards and short version in the discussion thread
: Galio Feedback Thread
Ok so end of day two... after playing him a but I concurred that I cannot play him the way I used to before rework at all. I was a Galio one trick a d now I fail to be able to play this character effectively. Many players in the PBE are very lax, trolly or bad from what I experienced. So Idk his o will fair in my diamond rating with this new Galio. I do not have the sustain I used to have and I cannot build the same path I made for myself and o cannot act/play the same way. I am honestly depressed over the changes (honestly depressed) I've spent so much time playing league and my fondest part was Galio. And now he is gone. The new changes this season benefited Galio the most since season 2 and now I cannot enjoy him anymore. I'm hoping for riot that this fulfils them and gives them a bigger Galio base and money... because honestly this Galio lost me and he was the biggest part of league for me... I'm sorry but I absolutely hate the rework on day 2... Let's see how this rolls out over the next week and a half... League is pretty much the only video game o play anymore and Galio was my main character... and now he is gone...
Rioter Comments
: I absolutely agree with that. I don't dislike the new way his personality and theme is approached. But his skills are still old Galio(my pov. It's hard to see the similarities if you didn't play Galio for a while. But I played quite a big amount of time), so it doesn't fit his thematic that well. I think it's a great rework and it's too late anyway but some small adjustments would help to clarify his theme. Also I would like to see the ult demacian symbol to be polished a bit (just a bit less silhouette) and his ult sound to be pitched a bit higher. His ult range also seems to be a bit short ranged on the later levels (especially keeping his lore size in mind). I know it's annoying but a traditional skin could be a nice way to remember his gargoyle design. I really miss the fantasy of him on a building gazing at everyone(maybe make him stop move like fiddle). I am not greedy for a new skin and totally understand and agree that traditional skins didn't appear for the latest reworks. Anyways you can't deny the fact that he isn't gargoyle enough anymore. Galio always was kind of cocky but not in an extreme way and the new one is serious in about 5 - 10% of his theme (eg. VO). Also I love his new wings(eventhough he resembles a symbol of demacia with them and hasn't got any insight of what's going on) but..hell I miss his bat-like wings...not even on a skin cmon. But all that aside..I love it, I love his theme. I am sooo looking forward to the lore and can't wait to see how he turn out in the long run. Great job everyone involved. GG Edit: ah and yeah just saw the post of his ult working on towers. At first I thought (hoped) his ult could work on towers but meh..I do miss that interaction with structures. Wouldn't be too late I guess. It could really be as simple as being able to ult towers and possibly even enemy towers for offense. Just image this enormous colossus crashing into that building, crushing it into ruins(ziggs w tower execute does this but it doesn't even have to be an execute)
they keep trying to sell that he is happy to be alive and about, but none of that is conveyed. it jsut seems like he is full of himself. he also has nothing like he east magic... i agree. My thoughts for Galio is maybe he can be some sort of Magi-Kinetic Mage where he absorbs damage done to him (physical and magical because of his 'Runic Skin' of old) and transmits it into power. His old W healed him upon being hit and his old R ramped up in dmg as he was hit. so i thought MAYBE thats the way he was gunna go. Instead he is a Giant statue of liberty for demacia who is like 'BRING IT ON!! ~~imma be the next hokage!~~' or something unusually jolly and cocky. The theme i dont liek at all. His base skin is Ugly (While the design in splash form looks 'ok' but not good. the old galio had more character to him, and he was good in game sans his long CD. uts just he was boring. phew i gotta stop before i get into full rant. im sure my post gets a little rantier than this... but if i wanted i can write an entire essay on how i feel about this new galio. and its not very positive.

: Ever since the first ever URF where I discovered how broken Galio was, I eventually learned how to play him in regular games, and have since attained Mastery5 and was very excited to see how the rework made him actually relevant. How I saw Old Galio: A sort of utility mage, much like Lux, with shields, CC, and a dash of anti-mage to make magic users less oppressive or even ruin their day entirely. He was meant to protect others, like Braum, but was also meant to hold his own, like, I don't know, Vlad, particularly versus anyone with magic. His Bulwark was the only reason I would play him versus Cass, Teemo, Malz, and anyone else with a DoT spell, or who built Liandry's. He wasn't a rough and tumble smasher who wanted to punch and hit anything in his way, and his ideal was to protect his team, not batter and bruise enemies. Countless times were spent giving tanks more resistances as they dove towers, using my R to PEEL instead of going HAM, using my wind to get people OUT of a fight faster instead of IN, or even trying (and often failing) to peel using the slow on my Q, which had little to no effect on champs with a dash. I want to save my teammates without sacrificing my identity as a mage's nightmare. His Passive now just turns him into a Bruiser, and erases the entire anti-mage idea of him. Trying to shove anti-mage into his W feels like an afterthought. Having played him, I feel like I'm using Jayce (Hammer only) or Toplane Braum, and my auto attacks are my primary source of damage or special effect. His Q looks great, though I'd prefer if it were more focused on utility instead of damage, much like his old E (give allies a speed boost in the tornado or something?) Since so much of my attention goes into Auto attacks, I tended to only use the Q for the Passive cooldown. The W is a nightmare to me. Damage reduction plays into his tanky scheme, sure, but it doesn't discriminate magic from physical, lending nothing to his anti mage fantasy. The best thing to me about his old W was the sense of "You attack me at .05% of my health, but I split-second react and end up healing off your last-ditch attempt, breaking your plans and turning everything around." It was a great tower dive deterrent. Second only to "You used a Damage-over-time ability but now I'm just healthier than when I started." The new W-passive is anti-mage? I could play Malphite and have literally the same thing. With the added bonus that it shields physical too. His E makes sense to me when in context of his old kit. The biggest thing I thought he lacked was a way to GET INTO a fight (to use his ultimate). Every time I'd end up buying Righteous Glory or Talisman (support galio new meta, still waiting for that) just so I could find a way into a fight or backline. So I actually applaud that solution, though the dash-back seems like a strange idea for someone who wants to get into a fight sooner (perhaps its due to some "reaction time" necessity). His R brings me back to Malphite. While imagining a Malphite pressing R, followed by Galio pressing New R onto him sounds like the funniest wombo I'd ever see, I don't think it really makes sense for him. His previous ult only lacked a dash, which is solved by the new E. When all you did was combine Shen (defenses+ally targeting), Malphite (AoE knockup), and Pantheon (long range jumpto), I'm once again disappointed by what seems to just be an afterthought, or thrown together pile of abilities. His previous ultimate was only problematic in that it was so easy to avoid, wasn't it? Or am I missing some major issue that **required it** to be completely removed (or rather, relocated and heavily nerfed)? tl;dr: I'd prefer if his passive made him anti-mage and not just some Fighter with one spell to cast. Keep the new Q, bring back the old W, keep the new E, bring back the old R. With regards to his personality? He appears too much as a cocky buffoon and not enough of a **solemn protector who failed in his mission and is trying to redeem himself**. Notes: I'm only Gold5, and a support main at that, so I tend toward behaviors which match that role. So when I played Galio, it's because he was capable of matching that play style. Thank you for reading, this was a slightly edited copypaste of a previously frustrated rant I made on a previous thread, and I hope the rudeness showed less here.

Since so much of my attention goes into Auto attacks, I tended to only use the Q for the Passive cooldown. > The W is a nightmare to me. Damage reduction plays into his tanky scheme, sure, but it doesn't discriminate magic from physical, lending nothing to his anti mage fantasy. : Galio Feedback Thread
His w (although being a weaker more reliable form of his old ult) feels weaker and provides less sustain than his old healing mechanic. [With or without the old ult dmg reduction] His ult looks great but is lackluster in use. I think providing it as a dash to turrets can help give him lane effectiveness. His passive is interesting but also lack luster and a cheap attempt to make his MR scaling stay. Again with the ult it provides that invisible power to allies that 'riot' hates so much. He was planned to stay in mid lane and be a tank but it seems like more mid champs can bully him with long magic shield CD when at a range disadvantage and without his old w sustain. Feels forced be a top or lackluster jungle champ with maybe support... but not mid. Feels a little weak but flashy right now Wrote this in order of importance as an old Galio one trick hoping to 9ne trick new Galio for honor of my beloved champ

We have plenty of champions who succeed at being more strategic without being boring, and who can make cool plays without needing too much of what everyone else has. Bard is a great example of this, as are Jhin and Vel'Koz. I feel Galio could've remained a back line tank with lots of ally utility and still become a healthy, fun and interesting champion.
Dashes and knock ups are what kids find fun. Hence all the yasuo players. He is an ok champ that is only strong in a lot of match up because he can do a lot late game and his windwall. All people do is dash around like morons and it was so fun laning against him as Galio cause it was so rewarding watching him dance around and you wait to hit w as soon as he ult you and you wait there with full health and laugh at him thinking he is so cool just cause be pulled off 'such a combo, wow!'

Oh and to seperate another quick thing I like from your post from MY rant. I also prefer righteous gust over winds of war.

No worries at all, either, as the OP is likely a bit too wordy. Judging by your username, you main Galio, which I think makes your opinion on this especially important. > [{quoted}](name=I only galio,realm=PBE,application-id=2EAF660193FA3B668D7234B3AEBB530C5AB7F651,discussion-id=ipsaw2z1,comment-id=0000,timestamp=2017-03-08T03:18:43.689+0000) > > it invisibly helps an ally (you know how they hate invisible power) This I very much resonate with in particular, because damage reduction is not a mechanic with good visual feedback at all, and the fact that it's just been added to not one, but two kits back to back, perplexes me. There are quite a few ways of making a champion mitigate damage that carry much more clarity, namely healing, shielding, untargetability/stasis, spell shields, block/dodge effects and anti-projectile objects, and it might've been better to make Galio heal for a portion of the damage he absorbed upon activating the taunt, which would've also been closer to his old Bulwark, instead of giving him Warwick's damage reduction on charge-up.
Yeah on my main I made it to diamond 5 using only Galio.. and now I gotta relearn a new champ that's nothing like the old one.. for the most part. His old and new passive are pretty trash tier. But atkeast his old passive gave him lvl 1 power and further power with w. Also all of his abilities were very projected which is something riot claims they like. He was a very balanced champ with highs and lows but was 'boring' although I found him fun. So they made him into this unnecessarily flashy champ to appease the kids playing.. as a business it makes sense... from a balance and champion with a Unique perspective... no not really. His healing on being hit was the most unique part of his kit. We had an aoe CC ult with amu. Nocturne has pretty much the same e. He was an Ap/Mr version of rammus with his passive, although with crappy ratios for both his skills. So his 50% MR the passed through a .6 AP ratio... Galio had the 50% dmg reduction as part of his out. So they just shifted into a less effective version of his old ult on low CD and got rid of w all together even though it was tankier and more projected when/what was happening. You can tell when new Galio has his dmg red by the bubble.. but not so much allies... I just miss Galio so much already.
: W no longer heals galio, but i believe the damage reduction is stronger than the resistances of old, i just liked the ability to shield allies whenever though --- but having on demand CC will have support Galio truly viable, he would be best as a mid laner where he can get real AP and tank items, but support definitely will be a second position for him (currently support Galio isn't that bad, but new Galio will definitely see a lot more Galio and may seem him support from time to time as well with majourity of games as a mid laner) Because ult range is 4000/4750/5500 and not a true global will be the main reason to why he won't be played top, plus he will have more favour-able match ups in the mid lane as well, even against physical champions if the team needs a strong tank - Galio being the only mid lane tank adds so much potential to team comps

: My Galio Feedback/Rant -- What Isn't a Galio?
i agree with most of this (although it was a little lengthy and didnt read ALL of it, sorry) he is an awkward mix of filling what fell flat last time while throwing away what worked last time, leaving him just as unfulfilling. He does just as much dmg in his basic spells but way less for his ult. His ult looks awesome but it very lack luster as a spell, it invisibly helps an ally (you know how they hate invisible power) and it does 1/3rd the damage the ult used to and is just as unreliable while much more unreliable for Galio himself. His e has very short range and seems thrown in there, jsut because he is melee His Q is wonderful His W is suprisingly lack luster; gets so slow for little reward and his old W made him way tankier for a lot less risk. so overall Old Passive: 3/10 New Passive: 3/10 Old Q: 5/10 New Q: 8/10 Old W: 9/10 New W: 5/10 Old E: 3/10 New E: 4/10 Old Ult: 7/10 New Ult: 2/10 Visually a lot has improved. gameplay wise...cmon?
: OH also from play the Ult does not save a Ally to often. Its Damage Reduction NOT a Shield. So if they are really low (say 100 HP) and you ult them. They still are going to die. Feels bad in that case.

: Galio Feedback
i think the w (even though its kind of like his old ult) feels a lot weaker than his current w. his e i agree feels too short but the delay is fine. i do not like his new ult at all (yes i know it looks cool but idk about stuff looking cool). it would be nice to have it work on (allied or fallen) turrets to get him around situationaly.
: First Pass Thoughts of Galio
i agree that even thought his w is kind of his old ult on demand. it feels much weaker than his old w.
