: Aww but this skin is so gorgeous that it needs to be showcased accurately to everyone and the enemy as well! But I do understand that frustration of pay-to-lose skins so to speak, but I think what your suggesting would be too much of a downgrade for an 1850 skin just to take advantage of your poor opponent's lack of Ahri matchup knowledge..
that's why i was thinking it might be nice to have it stay for a fixed moment and then fade away between dashes. that would still use the same flashy visuals without giving away the ending timing or charges left -quite- so plainly. it might be somewhat of a visual downgrade, but i'd consider the change an upgrade to the skin as someone who plays almost exclusively ahri. i also know i'm not the only one who feels this way as other friends of mine voiced the same concern to me before i had mentioned it myself. regardless, is it not a responsibility of the skin team to ensure that the cosmetics don't interfere with gameplay? as for "just to take advantage of the opponent's lack of Ahri matchup knowledge"-- yeah, that's exactly the case. but i would argue that taking advantage of the opponent not knowing as much as you is a huge, central part of this game. i don't think it should be undervalued. maybe ahri herself needs to be changed for the ult to be more clear across the board, but that's not up to just the skin team. even if that were the case, as things stand right now this skin is unequal to her other ones-- in a negative way. edit: in fact to the point of not being the only one i just looked at the reddit thread someone linked below and lo and behold, top comment-- http://prntscr.com/g6pt1d is saying the same thing.
: [CLOSED] PBE Bugs & Feedback Thread: Star Guardian Ahri!
hi! so. i have been _begging_ for this skin for like, ever. SG is easily my favorite skin line and ahri is my main squeeze and i didnt even hope that it would be legendary but _hey here it is and aaaaaaAAAA_ (i've been squeeing about this being a thing for the past like, since i woke up today.) so thank you SO much for making this. however: i'm a little bit concerned about the fancy animation on the ult. having her body pulse with that transformagic is _super rad and i love it_ however i think it puts the skin at a disadvantage compared to her other skins because it is always announcing when she still has ult charges. one trick ahri uses is to ult once or twice and then hang onto to the remaining dashes until very near to the end of the 10 second window she has them to catch opponents off guard. i think this would be difficult to do with this skin because it is impossible to miss when she is in ult. the transformagic glow also announces to the enemy when her ult ends, which might not be apparent to them otherwise (especially mid-fight or if she was hanging onto charges)(maybe it's also clearer for player but we're usually watching the cd in our skill window anyway) so, i see that her other skins have that little circley bit on her when she ults too. so that's cool-- but i think this is on a whole other level. to illustrate the point, i've probably easily played over 1k games as ahri and i didnt know that circle indicator was a thing for sure (had a feeling, but never actually paid attention to it) until i just now double checked. i think many opponents do not know to look for it either. on the other hand this glow is impossible to miss even on first view. is it too late to do something about this? perhaps have it fade after a moment between each dash? she does still have the star pattern below her when ulting too... as cool as i think the transformagic glow is, i would actually rather not have it if it means telegraphing that much more plainly to the enemy, and although it may only be once every other game or so that it matters, it would definitely affect my decision as to how much i would actually use this skin despite having lusted for it for so long, lol...
: This is mainly because we are testing a feature in Team Builder where you have to invite at least 1 friend to be a Captain. This is especially tough on the PBE server because most players don't have friends who also have PBE accounts, and players are trying their best to sync up on Public Chat in the game to add each other as friends. Unfortunately, we have to do this testing on PBE, so these few days will definitely have longer queue times and this won't be a good representation of Live. It will definitely help us identify bugs in Team Builder though.
I'm also very curious as to the impetus for this in terms of live. I feel like if this is, as brunoais asks, to make sure there's a 'healthy' balance between the two, it might make more sense to use something like the wait time indications to show players which side (solo or captain) is in need of usage, and let players make that decision. Otherwise I'm not sure that this is a 'feature' of TB that I would anticipate as a player. Although it might encourage interaction between usually solo players, and most players without friends would probably just solo anyway, there might be someone who wants or prefers control of a lobby to set up a specific team or strategy but may not have his or her friends online to do it. In this case, does the reward of this limitation outweigh the risk of frustrating some players by denying them captain ability?
: [TEST REQUEST] Vision Mini-Map Bugs
Spent the few games I had on TB today looking out for it, didn't notice any problems. Not exactly a large sample size, but here's one more vote for a-okay
: Team Builder Bugs!
Hello! A couple odd things; I couldn't reproduce them, but I'll note them just in case. **1-** Altered cursor in TB lobby Although I tried *very* hard to screenshot this, I couldn't pickup my own cursor on a screen. Anyway, somehow my cursor for the TB lobby became, instead of the normal pointer, two small arrows pointing to the right and left (as if I were going to drag something to resize it). This cursor seemed to pervade even going into one's profile or other game screens (but was the normal pointer when browsing the store). It would return to normal when outside of the client, but upon clicking into LoL would return to the strange cursor. I encountered this as a solo, but was unable to reproduce it in a subsequent lobby. After completing that TB game the cursor returned to normal. **2-** Captain ult indicator As I was in a solo TB game, I observed our captain Xerath use his ult, but the green indicator on the left side of the screen did not dim. I am sure he used all charges of it; I asked him and he told me it had 80 (and later 60) seconds of CD left, but the green light was still on as if he had it available. The other players on our team confirmed this. The ult indicator light remained on for the rest of the game. All other teammates' indicators appeared to be normal. Now, I list this here instead of a topic about Xerath because in the game prior to that (also TB), our captain was Soraka, and one teammate asked why she didn't ult to save him. She answered that it was on cooldown, and he told her that he saw her indicator expressing that she had it (I had also looked, and saw the same.) I figured at that time that she had just forgotten and tried to cover, but after watching Xerath ult in the next game and the indicator not disappear, it occurs to me that this could have been a similar instance. However, I spent the next few games watching ult indicators very closely, even played captain once and asked my teammates if it was working, and I could reproduce no problem with it. Again, however, I'm mentioning it just in case.
: Team Builder is coming back soon Tuesday (1/21) at 1:00 - 5:00 PM PST!
Only a couple quick things today. * When a player (I guess) declined joining the group, it gave a message to the lobby that a player had left (despite no one already in the lobby exiting it). I can't imagine that this -hasn't- been reported, but I didn't notice it anywhere. Here's a screen. http://prntscr.com/2lf02n * Should it necessarily flash non-captains when a player joins? How about just when all players are gathered? As a player, I would appreciate this change.
: Hello! As someone who mainly likes sticking to a few champions/roles at a time, I've been super excited for Team Builder ever since it was first discussed as a possibility, and I'm grateful to finally be able to try it out. Here are some of my thoughts on it **Solo Team-Builder:** * At the champ select- http://prntscr.com/2l33hd- should there be an option to close that window clicking a champion? If, for some reason, a player opens it and wants to close it without picking, the only way to do so is by selecting a champion, which takes at least three clicks. This extremely minor, but felt odd to me to not be able to close it any other way. * Should the skins tab change colour when it becomes accessible? It appeared to be the same colour both before and after selecting a champion (thus making it accessible). Again, although minor, I feel like this is a missing element of player feedback, saying, "Yeah you can go do this now." * In a similar vein, being required to click over the Skin Selection screen is a little weird. Could we clarify or change the 'Next' button at the bottom? At first, I assumed it would mean moving onto the next step- not just picking a skin, which I had already done through the tab. Mandatorily being taken to that separate tab is an unnecessary step for the majority of live users who may not have skins for the champions they're playing. Instead of forcing them to click over to the tab, perhaps have it move straight to the skin tab upon clicking on your champion rather having to click, then click Next? This also has the benefit of serving as a confirmation that the champion was selected, rather than relying on the icon in the background to know that the choice went through. If they wish to change, the champion tab still exists. * There's a lot of empty space on the left of the champion select area- http://prntscr.com/2l35ni - Can this be used? If not, maybe move the champion icon in the blurred background over so that it looks like it's supposed to occupy this space. If it can be used, perhaps some explanatory information could be placed here? It just looks empty currently... * Can there be a button or label for how to reselect a different champion, too? A player might hit 'Quit' instead of knowing to click on the icon of the already-selected champion. I believe this can be clarified. * I enjoy the recommended star for the champion role. Although, I wonder, would some champions such as Kayle and Teemo benefit from having more than one recommendation though? Would this be more confusing to players than thinking a marksman-Teemo is recommended to build like a traditional ADC? Personally I'm not sure, but it might be a consideration. * I like the little grass that appears around the Jungle position in the mini-map on the right. * Although I realise that the Estimated Wait Times are not complete, will the terminology carry over? "Estimated Wait Time: Long" is vague. Does 'Long' mean two minutes on live, or twenty? * I notice switching between different carries, for instance, the wait time changes. Graves right now has a 'Short' wait time, but Jinx has a 'Long' one for the same role and position. Why is this? Again, I realise that this is a WIP, so if this is a side-effect of being unfinished, by all means disregard this. * While in queue for searching for a team (though I realise the wait-time will be much less on live) could there be some indication of what champion/position/role is being looked for, as a confirmation that this is through team builder rather than something else? Because search times may vary, it might be helpful to provide this visual feedback to players, saying: 'Hey, we're still looking for a game for you to play this champion in!' * In a similar vein, while I personally don't mind the music while searching, might there be an option somewhere to turn that off? Whoops, seems I'm going to hit some kind of character limit... awkward. To be continued!
**Solo Team-Builder (cont'd):** * I very much enjoy being able to talk to the team so fluidly and while searching for a game. However, could there be a greater ceremony when match-making is entered? It's easy to miss a single line of yellow text. Even if it is yellow... * Maybe the icon for who's captain could be more dramatic too? It's barely noticeable. Not that it's ever hard to tell who's the captain because they're at the top, but the icon itself seems strangely modest. * The 'Captain is waiting for players to click ready' message interrupts any players currently typing... Could it not? Other similar messages may do the same- I saw a comment allude to that earlier. **Let's try captaining! Thoughts on building a team:** * Again, the space to the left of the champion select area is unused. This really does make me want to see some sort of anything there. * Can there be some kind of confirmation that my skin choice locked in? The window just disappears with no extra sound for it or anything. * The sliding/sound of the tokens on the mini-map when choosing the team layout is very satisfying. The no-champion selected icon feels like a token piece from a Pai Sho game or something. I like it a lot. * When a player joins the lobby, a red button appears and a dull sound is played. Between these two things, the first time someone joined my game, I thought that the join had been declined. Could there be a more pleasing sound? Or maybe make the kick button not look quite so... alarming? * Should team chats be able to be copy/pasted? I regret that they cannot presently. * As a captain, I VERY much enjoy the icon flash when a potential team-mate is found- but not sure about flashes on chat messages. I keep clicking over to the window, thinking we got a match * Is there a way to drop out of queue but keep the lobby in tact? If someone locks ready but then is interrupted before a match is found, this may be useful. * Even though wait-times are long here, it's still very enjoyable to get to know people. I feel like I might miss this on the more populous live. Not that this can be helped, but, hey, it's a thought. This is a thought section. Whatever. * Can we increase the amount of time alotted to decide whether to accept or decline? A jungle Urgot appeared and I asked my team if they were okay with accepting him or not. They were, but by the time they answered, it was too late. Even 5-10 seconds more would have been enough. * Should there be a confirmation message for the captain when clicking the X at the top? It would be sad to get a great team together only for the captain to accidentally click that, destroying the lobby. * Similarly, should there be a confirmation message for kicking a player? Again, miss-clicks might boot a cool team-mate. * With five players in the lobby, a player can spam ready on and off, which is especially jarring for the captain (shwing-shwing-shwing sounds). Perhaps this falls under the anti-abuse section, though. **Final thought:** * I'm sure this has been addressed before, but how feasible is it to see the enemy team shortly before the game loads? As a mid-laner I may want to take a different set-up if I'm playing against LeBlanc or Ahri than if I'm playing against Zed. Could there be a screen somewhere in between having a match-made and the game actually loading where players are given a final brief chance to adjust their runes/masteries/summons? I talk a lot but this was definitely a much more enjoyable queue. I look forward to playing more tomorrow!

: Team Builder Bugs!
This was mentioned before, but to clarify on reproducing the INVALID_SKIN error: Quick screen of the message itself: http://prntscr.com/2l48mr This is related to the first known bug. As it says, this happens when one "buys a skin in the Team Builder flow". However, contrary to what the known bug list says, the skin is perfectly usable, it just gives this message Repro- 1- In team-builder (my experience with this was as Captain), select a champion. 2- Click Done on the select screen 3- Click the store icon at the top of the client, navigate to the skins tab 4- Purchase a skin for the selected champion (or perhaps any champion?) ((This was reproduced with Justicaar Syndra, Mistletoe LeBlanc and Liondance Kog'Maw)) 5- Without clicking on the Done button on 'Item Unlocked' screen, use the home button at the top to return to the Team Builder. 6- Again, open the champion select screen. Select the champion for whom you have just purchased the skin 7- Select the newly purchased skin. The error message will then appear. -- While I realise this is probably known between the other report and aforementioned known bug I would rather not risk letting it slip through the cracks.
: Draft pick bans
I'm not sure that that's really necessary. At worst it is as you say, a mild annoyance for the four people on the non-banning team. However the solutions you propose probably have more negative consequences. Random bans are going to be potentially harmful- and there's no real need introduce a roulette that's only going to lead to disappointment and frustration in the inevitable scenario that it bans a champion a player was hoping to say. For fear of avoiding that, that would probably add needless pressure and stress to Champion Select. In the second suggestion, queue/select times will be needlessly increased by introducing another factor that resets the lobby. I don't believe that it has the benefit of 'encouraging people to ban,' because there's already sufficient impetus to make a choice that, granted proper communication, can only help one's own team. At least in my experience, there typically is not a player who's just like 'I dont feel like banning anyone else' nearly as often as technical issues prevent the captain from selecting a champion to ban. And in that case, introducing a penalty time then only acts as a punishment for technical issues, which is *twice* as frustrating. In short, I don't believe that the benefits of a change like that outweigh its consequences, nor is likely a very high priority to address.
