Why even bother with Sona's shield?

So, Riot, I see that her already lacking shield was nerfed in the 7/23. Thanks to Surrender @ 20, I noticed that: *Aria of Perseverance (W) shield amount reduced to 35/55/75/95/115 from 40/60/80/100/120* With the terrible 20% AP ratio (and since the support meta you're forcing anyway, it's not like Sona will build much AP), her shield is only effective for 1-2 auto attacks at any rank of this ability. The shield also lasts 1.5 seconds. What kind of shield is that? Let's not forget that the heal is (25/45/65/85/105 + (20% AP)). This ability is horrible. Either buff* the base numbers, or buff the ratio! Look, we're not asking for a 10 second (ooh, 6 seconds at 40% CDR!!!! wow!!) {{summoner:21}} Barrier, but something that does a little more than a couple auto attacks. It's WORTHLESS. I don't get why you're doing this. Nobody is asking for a nerf on any of her abilities. ALSO, I looked at {{champion:412}} Thresh's shield. Not only does Dark Passage have the utility of yanking friendly champions and collecting souls, but look. It does 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+40% AP). His shield does more at Rank 3 than hers does at Rank 5 (his shield could also do as much if not more with the right AP at Rank 2). ** In case you've forgotten, buff means to INCREASE the variables.*
