Will AP Mordekaiser suffer from these changes?

With the new Q and his E's base damage lowered, I can't help but worry that AP Mord is being phased out slowly. AD Mordekaiser, as of right now, has a MUCH more flexible build path than his AP counterpart and he can buy less damage for the same output up to a certain point. Right now, his AD build only really requires {{item:3078}} {{item:3122}} for damage -- {{item:3146}} optional. Then, he can optimize defensive items with things like {{item:3083}} {{item:3742}} {{item:3065}} {{item:3075}} {{item:3102}} {{item:3111}} AP on the other hand has far less options. Because there's no AP equivalent to the variety of stats that {{item:3078}} brings, Mordekaiser has to build a LOT more of it in order to compete with the AD build's sustained burst. {{item:3100}} seems to be highly necessary on him in order to make his Q outscale the AD build's without stacking high amounts of AP. {{item:3116}} is also important because it's his only means of minimizing the distance and sticking close, which is even harder after his MS was nerfed. I can only theory craft as to his "best" build but my thoughts are currently: {{item:3001}} {{item:3116}} {{item:3152}} {{item:3020}} / {{item:3158}} {{item:3100}} {{item:3157}} It covers most of his bases besides Attack Speed and hefty amounts of magic penetration, but Abyssal and Sorc's should be enough to make it at least somewhat noticeable vs bruisers, maybe dropping off when dealing with tanks. Opting for damage {{item:3089}} {{item:3135}} {{item:3285}} gives up much more than the AD build will because he can get tanky while doing lots of damage. Additionally, the lack of any form of W hurts AP much worse than it does AD, who will have higher resists and thus be less reliant on the bonuses. He also loses the powerful damage that becomes more noticeable the more AP he has and allowed him to punish people who stayed near him for its full duration. Going for a more durable build... I don't even know what I'd get if I was going more tanky. Maybe fit in a {{item:3151}} somewhere, if I desperately needed the health, or {{item:3065}}, but AP Mordekaiser loses a lot more grabbing these items than his new AD option. Playing him AP oriented, I also feel much weaker early on, and I haven't gotten to the point where I'm strong enough to decide if he can truly rival AD's consistent sustained-burst power once he gets most of his items. --------------- Right now, my suggestions would be, since E seems to be keeping its lower base. Keep in mind, not all of these changes should go through. - Raise the AP ratio on Siphon of Destruction. 70% to allow him to scale better, as compensation for a more frail build. - Give his passive shield a small AP scaling. This gives AP Mordekaiser a way to be more durable, sacrificing raw DPS for stronger up-front damage without also giving up his durability. 10% or 15% would be fine, can be tweaked if it proves too powerful. - Revert the nerf to his ult's range. It's ludicrous that you'd lower it on a champion who already gave up so much for his ultimate ability. It drastically reduces his effectiveness at picking off stragglers or hitting the back line; something that AP Mordekaiser needs to be doing in order to succeed alongside his AD counterpart. In my mind, AP Mordekaiser would play out being the slightly more fragile build oriented around carrying via damage upon damage, chunking opponents and whittling them down as he siphons their power. AD Mordekaiser gives up his strong burst for better sustained damage and being able to roam and stick to targets easier. At the moment, AP feels heavily suboptimal as I can build less damage on AD Mordekaiser for the same result.
